I own a 1998 Jaguar XJR supercharged black and full chrome extra fully loaded. There is heavy silver chrome everywhere on the car! Some of these in the North American Market had extra chrome all over them. Had the motor completely replaced! New motor in it and I’ve used my old supercharger as it was in extremely good condition. This car is up in CANADA! I can’t believe how good the shiny black paint looks with all the extra heavy silver chrome!!!! Inside is all hard wood and black leather! All options that were ever available for 1998 are fitted on this particular Jaguar. I think the use of the heavy chrome denotes that fact about the car that it was in fact extra fully loaded. A man in Bavaria Germany that owns an XJR of his own was absolutely shocked as to how much factory chrome I have on mine. I even proved back to him that it is all factory what I have on mine. He couldn’t believe it! I’ve been told that it was special ordered but all factory. There are things on this particular Jaguar that I’ve not found on any others such as an extra front defrost blower / heater / defroster complication that is in the car books marked as where fitted. Everything that reads ‘where fitted’ is in my car. It was originally purchased on April 8, 1998 near Toronto, Canada. I’m going to have it up for sale soon. Lovely with the full engine replacement! :) The man from Germany has said that he is extremely happy with his! Of course change your oil very often. And I definitely will with this one. I intend to have the motor oil changed every 3 months if it needs it or not because I want the synthetic oil to always be very clean. The ride is sooo good!!!

I love these old performance cars, I had a 1988 7 series and an ex police T5 Volvo, many people don't expect them to be that quick but the feeling of it accelerating is so much better than in a newish hot hatch, it is like launching off in a comfy sofa.

Yeah 100% agree! Can’t beat that ridiculous feeling of a luxurious launch 😂

@@LewiPilgrim no worries! Love x300s and x308s 😎 my XJR had been tickled by Paramount Performance and came with a Dyno readout of 401bhp 🔥🔥 it was a 160k shed though 😂 a very fast shed, mind you 😂😂

I would go through the fuses first and hose the fuse box down with electronic cleaner. Then start cleaning connectors, starting with the interior rearview. Old connections just get dirty. I pulled my first gen Xbox out of the closet the other day and it wouldn't work. Hosed it down with CRC and it works perfect. A $10 volt meter is good to have as well.

There are some great back roads in that area of Essex, do enjoy driving around them. Lovely car, I have a 2010 XKR , lovely lovely engines, wife also had the 4.2 S/C RRS - I don't get the supercharger wine, the only miss.

Superchargers actually take horsepower to spin them which is why they're not as efficient as turbochargers. I know some of the larger ones you used to find on the AMG mercs needed something like 200hp just spin the supercharger.

Found a black one available with 237k miles on it, looks to be in descent shape. Is that too many miles for this car or should I try to get it still?

Depends on price really. And check the timing chain & tensioners were swapped to the later ones/do it immediately if not and you do buy it!

Superchargers are belt driven, they use power to make power , Turbos run off exhaust gas and in some cases can make a car better on fuel
