Holy mother of God. Never seen this much destruction on a 2zz powertrain. Engine+Transmission+Drive Shafts all done und busted. You're right propably a mount or hanger shifted and destroyed the trans+Drive Shafts but the main cause was the broken/bend rod inside the engine

I literally said to myself "how does that fuckin' happen" 2 seconds before you did lol. I understand how bad my issue could have been now. Good luck to you! Your 2zz videos helped me a lot when trying to figure out my 2zz spyder swap. Great to see the two of you making content again! :)

Pretty sure it was poor fuel. I commute in this car every day and tracked it multiple times….mixing cheap and expensive fuel probably did it. Commutes got arco and track days got shell

That is one for the records. I have never seen so much engine carnage in all my life. Truly a very big bummer.

I suspect the lightweight flywheel and LSD are what killed the engine and transaxle. The mass of the OE FW helps protect the engine from shock loading and an open diff is less stress on the whole driveline. It was fun while it lasted though!

When I had my celica gts I went hunting for a 2zz at the salvage yard and I saw two 2zz blown up in different yards so i took the celica to the scrap metal. Got me 1zzfe celica Scotty kilmer was right about 2zz-ge engine Sorry for your lost 😢

just took my 2zz all the way to lift today. God I love that sound

Oh wow, the connecting rod of piston number 2 brake and destroyed the engine block. Yes you are right that the fuel mixture can be at fault because may have caused detonation, but you should have noted engine knocking sound I think.

That fucking blows Sebastián. Look forward to seeing more videos now with the rebuild.

Do you think the lack of harmonic balancer had anything to do with the destruction or do you think it would have happened with or without the lightweight crank pulley?
@googledunce98723 ай бұрын
Damn. So it let go of one of the engine mounts and then yanked on the trans too?

My bet is seized wrist pin, I dont see anything else doing that much damage

How the hell DOES that happen. Did the timing chain snap?
@DeepRacer-zr4yp3 ай бұрын
maybe, a proper teardown and aftermath of that engine would be super interesting
@brinho1093 ай бұрын
wow, all this carnage. Any idea what initiated it? You take good care of the car so this is a bit shocking.

Thats it a mayor flaw with the 2zz it can be running fine and poof there it goes . Thats why people building towards FE engines instead GE those FE can withstand so much abuse is incredible
@alrichlosper69733 ай бұрын
I know you said you did a very light pull but this looks like a heavy pull and money shift because the valve is broke kiss the pistons and the one piston broke hitting that hole in the back
@2zzlow3 ай бұрын
Money shifting is destroying the oil pump gear. I still have to take that apart.

Oh ya, in a straight line, a supercharged v6 in a ~2600lb car will be faster. Considering you're in cali - awd is pointless anyway.
