I've been 3D printing for years, I've worked with many printers from many different manufacturers including Creality and Prusa and FLSun, and I stand firmly by the statement that these are the best non-industrial-scale 3D printers out there. Nothing else comes close. They print more quickly and more cleanly than any other printer I've used that's not a Voron. The company is indeed fantastic at incorporating community feedback and building out customer tools for resolving failed prints. And yet there's this outright venom and hostility from the 3D printing community toward Bambu devices. I've been called a shill, they've alleged that Bambu pays everyone who says good things about them, and they swear up and down that "there's no such thing as a turnkey / plug-and-play 3D printer." There's this odd stubbornness to detach from the cheap-and-mediocre 3D printers that require excessive adjustment and prayers at the altar to print right. It's bizarre and frustrating gatekeeping, as if they refuse to add anyone to their "trusted manufacturers" list after Creality and Prusa dominated the market.

Fantastic video as always! Definitely along for the ride with this one. I have 1 X1CC and 2 P1P and there's definitely growing pains but that's what you get with a gen 1 product. given all the problems I've previously dealt with on past printers this isn't something out of the normal. I'm glad to see they're taking all the feedback as seriously as they are and I'm excited to see how it all evolves.

I’ll tell you from my two weeks of experience printing. Long story short, I put in an order for X1C, and forgot about it. Wife got me a neo for Christmas. Iv spent over 24+ hours leveling the Ender. I’m 5 days of having the X1 set up, I have leveled it, zero times. One fail due to me forgetting glue, everything else has been absolutely flawless.

@Marc16180
@Marc16180 Жыл бұрын
Regarding loading the filament, you only need to hit the button to extrude once until it grips the filament. When a job starts, it extrudes enough to get it flowing from the nozzle just fine. When loading filament for a replacement mid-print, though, I did have to purge out some filament myself as the printer didn’t do that itself.

If the black dust is actually coming from carbon rods, it might not be to good on the lungs. Carbon nanotubes (not the same) result in similar lung damage as asbestos in studies. Great review! Hairspray works for me on the cool plate, I HATE gluestick. That said, I switched to textured on both my X1C and P1P and only use the cool plate if I have some really finicky item that ABSOLUTELY needs max adherence. Never had one stick so hard I could not get it off. I also vote for a 'load' button - I hear an update is coming soon, so please Bambu add this!
@thomaswiley666
@thomaswiley666 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the update! Just one thing... I haven't found review or update of anyone who's printed a duo-tone (or two color) print and weighed the purge strings and the purge tower, along with the printed object (including the supports), to get a ratio of waste to product. I know supports are considered waste material but we would get the same amount of support waste on other machines. Eventually we could work our way down to what type of support delivers the best benefit to cost ratio later on. As we move forward with being a more "green" society, we in the printing community need to be aware of our waste, too. But then again, the more people we have looking into this, and as Bambu Lab as been really responsive so far with making changes and updates, we - and Bambu Lab - could be on the forefront of recognizing and mitigation waste before it has time to become a problem. And whatever gains we make here could be shared with other printer companies. Thanks again for the update.

I've been loving my X1 since the Kickstarter finished. Thanks for your thoughts Jessy. I switched to the high temp pei sheets and have never looked back. The only real issue I have with BambuLabs' build plates is those stickers like to bubble when your prints stick a little too well. Easy to fix with a plastic scraper and a few minutes of time, but I still get angry every time I have to get rid of the bubbles.

Fantastic video. I was actually waiting for something like this since there are just too many "look what a great printer this is" videos. We all need input like this. Kudos to Bambu labs for their great level of support. I was going to build my own multi extruder/material printer but I am almost ready to pre-order the X1-Carbon+AMS bundle. There is just one little thing ... In the latest (Christmas gift) blog I read something about "communication with the cloud" and "print history from the cloud" and I am wondering what that cloud is being used for ? I am kind of expecting that this printer is able to be used without any cloud interaction and just send data from my local PC directly to my (local) printer without the the need to copy this through the internet. Is this "cloud" stuff only used for the mobile app or is the PC app also using the cloud when modeling/slicing/printing ?

I haven’t got mine yet but I wish they had advertised more adequately how the nozzle change works… Since I’m not new to printing I made sure to order extra heaters and thermistors and took advantage of the free shipping by also ordering some nozzles. I like that I don’t have to deal with hot tightening with this machine and I thought I might be able to do a pretty fast nozzle swap by having alt nozzles pre set with a heater/thermistor but I now see that the hot end fan is attached to the nozzle assy… If I had known I would’ve ordered some extra fans and doing so now I have no idea when I’ll get them.

@Uncle Jessy Thanks for the update! It helps for owners to be aware. Have you noticed VFA issues on your prints and any advice how to address them on the X1C? People think the caused by a number of things, such as to slicer settings, smooth idler pulleys instead of toothed ones, extruder gear runout, belt tension, belts that are too short with too much tension, and belt quality (non-Gates belt). So far there doesn’t seem to be a fix - some people say print slower or faster but the issue is still apparent.

@@UncleJessy Yup, you’re not the only one. Following BambuLab’s maintenance guide helps a tiny bit but the VFA is still there. People might be ignoring the issue or it goes unnoticed on prints because some filaments hide it better. If you compare your first to most recent prints, do you see quality degrade? I hope people will be more vocal about it so the topic gains traction so either community fixes or BambuLab prioritizes a fix.

It works ok but the build plate is 5” and I print a lot of things and sell a lot of fish tank mods. As when I’m not working on CAD files and designs I’m arm deep in fish tanks. I’m looking for a printer than can make parts fast and my parents will pay for any new printer to help my hobby/side hustle grow. I’m almost done with a associate degree in CNC so I think that’s part of why I can get whatever printer I want. Any advice or tips will be welcomed

Did they improve the noise level in general? Maybe shut down the fan when not printing?

So bout to pull the trigger I think on some Bambu stuff. I know in the past you have always preferred the .6 Nozzle. Do you recommend the .6 over the .4 on this printer. I know you liked it when you switched. Just curious. I am debating between the X1C and the P1S.

How do you work up new profiles for filaments that are not Bamboo labs filaments?

You can start with a default profile they provide, tweak settings as needed and then SAVE As your own profile.

What are thoughts on the normalization of auto-bed leveling? Something in me wants a printer with all the bells and whistles, but the manual nature of older printers feels like I can keep them forever and these newer printers have more of a shelf-life.

Auto Bed Levelling is a total game changer. I send a print to my octoprint and press print. I don't have to go to my shed and check on or do anything. I just rock up 20hrs later, and the print is sitting there.

I'm actually in the market for a new 3D printer, and this looks very impressive. Though I'm giving a side eye to things like the strange way to load filament and the print surface looking the way it does. Reminds me of BuildTak sheets on the cold bed. Prints stick too well and you end up wrestling with getting the model off the plate. I'm surprised they didn't use a removable glass surface
@IrocZIV
@IrocZIV Жыл бұрын
glass is less popular since it can't flex, and some filament will bond to it.

@@IrocZIV very true and even waiting for the plate to cool might not make it easy to remove the print

2:10 you mentioned the hum. That could be from the power supply since it has to pull power for running of course. If anything, a sleep mode would be nice just to give that supply a break while not fully operating. That would also kinda "shut down" everything, and like most computers and such in sleep mode, a quick tap on the screen would wake it up in a second.

Any luck on finding a good release agent for the cold plate yet? I have tried two different hair sprays, one works too well (warping) and the other was like I didn't use anything (goodbye sticker #1) I have tried MagicGoo and it just flaked off, and finally just windex which didn't seem to work well either... I ordered some of the 3dminer polymer but its stuck somewhere in the mail...

Your comments on Windex are interesting. I have used it on my cool plate for PLA printing from day 1 and have gotten excellent results. I have the Bambu Lab textured PEI plate collecting dust just in case!

I recommend printing with Bambu filament for best results. I have found their filament to be much more reliable! Also I haven't really had any issues with the cool plate, perfect adhesion for me on all 3 of my X1 carbon printers. Great printers for sure! However, one of my printers has the buzzing fan issue though.

You may want to reach out to support regarding the fan issue. I sent in a support ticket for my fan yesterday and they offered to send me a $20 coupon to purchase a replacement from their store.

If they're bearing type fans, can't they be upgraded to a nonbearing fan? That should resolve the humming issue and increase lifespan.

I have an X1 and I also have several Prusa machines and a Voron 2.4. The X1 is my new favorite hands down. It prints faster and nicer with much less effort than any printer I have used. So far I absolutely love it and it's been a great addition to my business. With that said, I got the X1 with the AMS and it has not worked from day one and getting issues like that solved with Bambu has been anything but seamless. I explained very clearly what was going on and they want video and a error file from the printer. Which I would normally understand but I was easily able to tell them the error code and the video does not show any better what's going on than how I can explain it since you can't see the issue but I can feel it when manually pushing the filament in and out of the unit. So jumping through run around hoops in my opinion. The AMS unit is still sitting collecting dust. I highly recommend the printer but the AMS is not ready for consumers IMHO. Look around, I'm not the only one complaining about the reliability of the AMS. But I will say it again, the printer is outstanding and I highly recommend it. Very impressive unit.

Hi ... I would LOOOOOVE to know more about the accuracy of this printer. For me accuracy is the most important thing, rather than speed. But I couldn't find ANY videos about the accuracy. I mean is like 1cm diameter in hte CAD program = 1cm printed? Or like 0.1mm = 0.1mm printed? You know what I mean? This is holding me back to buy one of theses machines right now. Thank you so much.

I havent heard any humming from my printer. It might just be something that is wearing out on the machine and hopefully can be easily replaced. As for nozzle cleaner that keeps breaking for you there are actually some that you can print on Printables, some even claim to have made them better than the original, also the white part is apprently just PTFE tubing and there is also someone on Printables that made a jig so you can cut the PTFE tube the correct size. So rather than buying more you can potentially just print them. If you do please let us know how they work out since you use these printers so much you probably will be able to test them much better than the average person 😁

Have you given a g10 build plate a shot? I have yet to have a print that wasn't 100 released from the build plate once it cooled. for me G10 works the way people describe PEI working. Add in the fact that it holds it's shape so it can compensate for slightly warped beds. Lightspeed has some pretty hig quality ones.

My only concern is support after a new printer comes out. Without it being open source, parts will be at mercy of B-labs. I am still on the fence on ordering one because of this one issue, Has anyone been able to source outside parts just in case?
