Again a nice video! 50 pounds for that is incredible. In France, we should look at 120 euros minimum for a used X260, and not for this top tier model. Usually, we get 128/256Go and 8 Go RAM with the i3-6100u or i5-6200u/6300u, no backlit keyboard and the basic TN screen. Don't forget to say that you got a SD card reader and 3 USB ports, wich is amazing for such a small form factor laptop, you can plug a mouse, a headset and an external storage at the same time. The Intel HD 520 graphics is a solid iGPU for older or lightweight games, but unfortunately, you will not have Dual channel compatibility due to the single RAM slot in the X260 architecture. I played on this iGPU on a i3-6300u x260 from 2017 to 2023. I used to play a nice amount of games on a stable basis without stutters or freeze. With plugged power and ajusted settings at 1368x766, like: Minecraft (Sodium+Iris, like you, 50 fps locked), Stardew Valley, (high 60fps) Team Fortress 2, (low 45fps locked) CS source, (High 60fps) TES Oblivion, (High 50fps locked) TES Skyrim non SE (low 50fps, medium 30 locked) Civilization V (Low DX9 50fps locked) Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion ( high 50 locked) Tomb Raider 2013 (low 30 fps locked) Mount & Blade Warband (Medium 50 fps locked) MW3 2011 ( Medium 30 fps locked) Quake 4 (High 60fps) RealRTCW (High 60fps) XIII (High 60fps) League of Legends (Medium-low 50 fps) Among Us (max, 60fps) The thermals were High, with around 80/90°C when on heaviest games on the list ( the low fps locked ones), but on most games, not going to more than 82/83°C after multiple hours. If using Linux (Ubuntu and Mint for me), some native games are runing better like Minecraft (no Sodium), Tomb Raider 2013 and Civilization V. I think you can have 10/15% better graphic performances with the top model X270 i-7 7600U and Intel HD 620 with 2400Mhz RAM. I really love those videos, it's very interesting to see what is the market in other countries and see that massive difference between UK and France (I assume you are in UK, correct me if i'm wrong). Best regards.

For those saying the price is bonkers and fake, please remember these two things : - This computer was purchased in the U.K, where the used market is absolutely insane. - The pound is a fairly strong currency, 50 pounds is 65$

1. The UK actually pays *more* than the US for electronics, 90% of the time. 2. Irrelevant, even in other European countries like Germany and France you'll also pay something like 100 pounds at least. This is not to say the price is fake, I've seen some people buy the W541 workstation for even less than this. But for the average European, 50 pounds for this is unheard of. The battery itself costs 30 pounds!

What is the battery time on those (browsing/watching videos)? They seem to have all the power i would require of a secondary laptop, the only question is how long does the battery last. And yeah windows is definitely a good thing. Not that i hate linux.. but it´s rather inconvenient and (at least one my previous laptops) recuded the time running on battery power by roughly 40 mins to a full hour. (windows seems to have much better power management, or at least the drivers enable it to run more efficient, not sure what it is)

I've been using it for a couple of days so I'll give a few details. Normal usage (web browsing/watching videos), around 4-5 hrs at 75% brightness. You can buy a bigger 48/72whr battery for it, which will probably give it an extra few hours. A really good laptop for battery life given it's age

I agree it is a great deal, but the screen is small 12.5" and it is bulky. It is fun to fix it up but will you use it? Or will there be a place on you desk? After owning X1 Carbon Gen 5 (should spend $50 more for Gen), I am not interested in any Lenovo before 2020. No wonder there are so many bidder on X1 Carbon Gen 6 (even more than X1 Yoga Gen 3). There are one more that I think is unique from Lenovo. That is Thinkpad X1 tablet 3rd gen (Gen 1 and Gen 2 screen size is only 12", I think is too small and I still own few Surface 3 and Surface pro and a very old "HP Spectre x2-12-a009nr 2016 12"). Thinkpad X1 Tablet has 13" and very unique set up make it quite interesting. But still quite expensive as of today ($200). I would get on if it falls under $100.

Mine a 6 th gen i5, with 50 chrome tabs, and 16 gb upgraded ram, and in addition running VMs.I have nothing to complain about ....... Except the bad hinges, as some brass thread inserts are broken, however fixable those are too close to other things and total disassembly required.

True I love the X270, primarily for it's USB C which can double as a charging port. They are solid, and surprisingly quite modern machines to this day
@neail54662 ай бұрын
@@cephacore I don't tend to use the USB C much as - 1. It's soldered to the board, and if something breaks or cracks, that's another hassle beside the hinges 2. USB PD charging is not required for those old batteries, the left juice will ooze out ever faster or probably a bamm someday. I would suggest to limit the batteries to 80% from windows with the Vantage app, and from Linux there are threshold controlling extensions present in gnome.

You know what I don't get? The price! And from a reputable seller. Unless its just an unnoticed auction. I got a Thinkpad x270 around 3 years back, 3.5 maybe, which is basically identical to an x260. Mine was with the basic i5-6200u, 8 GB RAM and 180 GB SSD, with a low-res HD 1366x768 TN screen (which I don't mind), without a backlit KB, for I almost 300 £ then. Got it from a refurbisher, it was the cheapest online price available, I looked (eBay, cEx). Then it had been almost 4 years since launch. (Currently it is almost 7.5 years since launch, which started at around 800$ or 600 £). My question is, why would the price only halve for the first part of the above 7.5 yr time period, and then suddenly collapse, getting 4-5x lesser?
@cephacore22 күн бұрын
Laptop prices usually collapse when businesses and schools retire them, this usally occurs 3-5 years after release. Maybe three years back the X270 was still a usable laptop for many but as time goes by people are more reluctant in buying them. Still, it doesn't mean the X270 is at all useless. The X260 in the video clearly demonstrates that
@paulpaudel22 күн бұрын
@@cephacore Hmm yeah. For people interested in minimal and frugal stuff like me then, I think it's worth it to know the inflection point when that happens (most businesses retiring such products). Mine was a retired business piece as well (some probably do that in 3-4 years or less?), as far as I know (the TN screen, the no-backlight KB I think is business). But probably there were enough business or people looking to keep or buy those then. And the market probably wasn't flooded with enough pieces as most businesses got rid of them. Hence the high-ish, almost 50% of the release price at almost 4 years of launch.

Sorry i would not want to trade my 2012 Dell E6430. Sure mine is not a thin and light, but i only use it at home on my desk anyway. And the i7-3740QM although being years older make the i7 title of the 6600U look like a sick joke from Intel. (The i73740QM is 3 years older then the i7-6600U but the 6600U is 40% slower). Also you can guess the E6430 second hand is even cheaper because price is not related to speed but to age, which i think is funny. Mine came equipped with 16Gb memory and a small 240Gb Samsung SSD.

Gotta think about the price I got it for, and it's intended use. The X260 is for a completely different market. The U series CPUs prioritize battery life over performance.
