Since I don't see anyone else mentioning it. I'm betting the usb port was added so it could be troubleshot easier, but covered by the case to prevent patients from being able to plug anything into it if they were handed it to fill in a form for example. Makes sense for the amount of information security that the healthcare system needs.

The pen technology is what modern drawing tablets and now Samsung/Apple tablets use too. Being able to hover the cursor over the screen gives you feedback the same way that moving around a mouse does. It's basically a requirement for screenless drawing tablets.

So basically it's a Wacom drawing tablet with a screen. Drawing tablets also use magnetic sensors to track the pen and will not respond to hands (which is good!).
@YokiDokiPanic

So THAT'S how those screens work! My XPpen drawing tablet works exactly the same! The little diamond instead of a normal mouse cursor means it's missing a specific driver.

OH THAT'S WHY MY XP PEN WAS ACTING WEIRD
@YokiDokiPanic
@YokiDokiPanic 2 сағат бұрын
@@hellohaveagoodday Oh yeah, whenever you see the little diamond cursor, just reinstall it. Takes about 2 minutes and all works perfect again. I've got the installer pinned to my start screen now so I don't have to go look for it anymore. And don't worry, reinstalling does not get rid of your screen calibrations, it just resets the express buttons, but that's an easy fix too.

For older hardware ZSNES is a great choice for SNES emulation. It's coded entirely in x86 assembly, has a high level of compatibility and will play even on the lowest-end potato. Other games that would be great for this tablet would be point and click adventure games like Monkey Island and King's Quest

The Aero styling of that Windows 7 OS is gorgeous, sadly KDE Plasma doesn't emulate it as beautifully. The pen did not really impress me, but that's as I use drawing tablets for note-taking. It's even a Wacom, like the tablet at my desktop, but the eraser side of the pen gives that away. I can even operate the laptop entirely with the pen for navigating webpages, using a similar on screen keyboard. The screen actually looks surprisingly good, I wouldn't mind writing notes on it even. But I prefer screen-less tablets, where I can look ahead while writing.

I love these Windows Tablets before Windows 8. They’re always just so interesting since these OS’s were never meant for a touch screen. Also, the touchscreen on the device works on the computer like a cheap drawling tablet (You know, like the ones without a display). I know this because I’ve tried a drawling tablet on Windows 7 and it uses the same techniques for it to work.

It's definitely faster without vsync, essentially vsync locks the framerate to that of your display to reduce screen tearing, but it adds extra input latency and is generally a bad idea if you just want performance. The texture filtering options are for smoothing out textures in-game so they look better, but I'm don't know much more than that. Finally, the resource meter in GTA IV is showing your VRAM, which in the case of the tablet/iGPU is most likely shared with the system memory, it'l just reserve a chunk for itself. There was a bug in GTA IV with that calcuation where it would break on modern GPUs with a lot of VRAM, and prevent the game from running as it thought you had 0mb of VRAM, when in-fact you had 8+GB
@Programmerman
@Programmerman Сағат бұрын
Ah the old Windows 7 pen tablet experience. Almost cromulent enough to function as an input method, but nowhere near able to function as the only input method. It's better on all the later Windows versions but you'd still be hard pressed to go pen-only. Especially frustrating in Windows 7 where the handwriting recognition was "attempted." That Wacom technology was pretty solid though - this thing likely cost at least two sacks of money (💰💰+) in its day. Wacom displays were expensive and to attach a whole PC to them even more so

The pen (tracking, eraser, side button) setup looks a lot like surface tablet setup with a surface pen. I suspect there is a battery in the pen, either wireless rechargeable or a AAA. Surface pen before 2017 uses a AAAA battery that lasts about a year. Looking at the size of the pen, if they uses a AAA, I bet the battery can last two years or more without replacement.
