THIS 4WD HASN’T RUN IN 19 YEARS… Will it start? Shauno's Barn Find Toyota LandCruiser 40 series!

Shauno's first 4WD memory was in the passenger seat of his Grandfather's HJ47 Toyota Landcruiser Ute. It's the 4x4 that sparked his love affair for Cruisers. Flash forward 30 years and he's purchased his own! Problem is - he bought this abandoned car sight unseen from a farm at Mt Isa in Outback QLD, and it's been sitting in a shed for 19 years without being run.
In this episode Shauno attempts to get the best barn find ever running with 3 spanners, a battery and a tank of diesel - can he do it? Watch to find out!

The fuel shut-off lever has a solenoid that pulls it in the opposite direction for starting. Helps a lot for first start or during the day when sitting a few hours. It fuels a bit more at start-up. Saves the glowplugs and starter a bit in the long run. These Cruisers are the toughest vehicles for farm and overall use. Not the fastest but will get you home and the job done. Absolutely love them. Great videos as usual. Keep up the good work. Cheers from Namibia

I just completed a survey from Motortrend the other day about attracting memberships. There were all these questions about member exclusives. Access to special events, gear, clothes, etc. I kept saying no to all that crap and tried to emphasize content quality. They are trying so hard to make their own platform like Netflix and Amazon, that they've forgotten what their fans really want. I hope they listen and start making videos like this one again.

I was on a construction project building a tunnel under the Suez canal in Egypt back in the late 70s, my job was to supply the tunnel on a daily basis. We had tunnel lining segments spread across the desert and my means of transport was a Toyota pickup with drop sides and tail gate. Haven't seen another in all those years so thanks mate for opening up more memories from the past. I swapped the Toyota out for a long wheel base Land Rover, wait for it !!!!! FIRE ENGINE complete with chrome bell and search light which I managed to get back to then UK. Sold the bell and mounted the search light on my 1930s cabin cruiser. On a trip to Cairo met up with the Land Rover Sales and display team on a military supply tour. Well we just had to invite them back to our Camp on the banks of the Suez Canal for the w/e. The display guys taught me how to drive Off road without killing my self, man we were putting those short and long wheel base LDs in places I'd was Sh-----g myself. But in came in handy when my next contact in Cairo again with a 110 County Land Rover we would go wadi jumping in Sinai and on down to Sharm El Shake. Nice one mate enjoy.

Very cool truck! I had a 1968 FJ-40 for quite a few years. It was pretty much all stock. It was tough as nails and went anywhere I pointed it. I live in the southwest US, so it saw lot's of deserts, desert mountains, and canyons. It logged a lot of miles in Death Valley. I'm an old retired guy and have owned all manner of four wheelers over the years and the FJ-40 is one of my favorites. Currently, I drive a 1989 Isuzu Trooper 4 door and a 1998 Jeep Cherokee 4 door. I love 4 wheeling.

Got a few things ordered and just waiting on that then i can really start to make it look good and roadworthy. Within a week i reckon ill be going out the bush with some mates and really giving it a good test. But absolutely loving the engine. Ya honestly cant kill them there so tough

My Uncle had one of these as a farm vehicle and it went forever. Outstanding work and I look forward to seeing the old girl hit the road.

My grandpas had 2 brand new 1982 and then 85 Toyota 4x4 pickup and I love them always wanted one and finally got one recently. I wanted anything 1980/94 and ended up with a rust free 1990. Absolutely love my pickup.

As for old trucks, I will say the same. The old truck my grandpa had and my dad had was to me a great feeling. I felt more connected and in tuned to the handling and ride. It felt as if you are part of it.

I learnt to drive on a farm in one of these...great trucks...go anywhere but you are right about the clutches !! There were no mod cons in these...basic to say the least but boy were they great to learn in !! Virtually unbreakable...even with a 16 year old behind the wheel !! I always remember the air vents down near the pedals...primitive air con ??? Great stuff Shauno and the blokes with you !!! Cannot wait to see the end result mate...well done as always !! Never seen you so excited...unless your cooking !!

Oh man, that is one sweet 47. If only I had a Mr Land Cruiser over here, I'd pick up a new windscreen, a couple single pane doors, a bonnet & my stretched 45 with a H engine would be good to go. Look forward to seeing where this build goes.

Great work Shauno - I’m comparing that with my land rover build .... which took months to get going!

I love his ability to see the bright side 😂 I’ve done the same thing with some real hum-dingers. In the long run, a straight body is probably king...the rest can be replaced.

My Dad and I bought a 47 for my first farm Ute after I left school. It was so reliable and when you locked in the hubs it went anywhere you pointed it. It’s still on the farm now as a farm fire fighting unit. I think you should head to the snowy mountains where the old land cruisers really made a name for themselves
