Thanks Ian (and Mark!), great to see a classic B&O item being brought back to life again

I remember when this model came out - it was so cool. As a kid what i thought was really cool was how the needle-arm moved across the L.P at a right angle to the disc. One of those ‘Wow!’ Moments. I’m 60 BTW

Very Nice! This series of tables were quite ahead of their time back in the 70's. Dare I say they still look quite modern.
@Barbarapape2 ай бұрын
A fantastic example of how tech from the 70's can be re-engineered and peform as good if not better than the original. I was a young trainee A/V tech in the early 70's in a shop that sold B&O and always admired the way it looked so futurisric back then, repairing them was not always easy you had to be very careful not to mark all that alloy trim.

I had this table but had to stop using it because they no longer made needles and cartridges for it. It was a wonderful table.
@donello430Ай бұрын
Yes, they do. BO have licensed Soundsmith in New York to make new cartridges for it

This turntable was way ahead of its time. Bring it out again just like technics did with the 1210

I modified my Beogram 8500 and play it through my Pentas. No matter how much I spend on the system someone still has to get up and turn over the record.

Will B&O eventually be building a similar new turntable from the ground up?

Yes, for $4500.

Now that would be a good idea

This turntable looks like it was designed yesterday. It has not dated- classic iconic industrial design. Why are B&O not reintroducing this turntable? It would be a massive hit!

I’d just bought a B&O system in 1980 for £400 or so total, with receiver, cassette recorder and record deck. I really coveted this at the time but I’d maxed out my budget. This alone cost £400…

I was 12 (1975),when this was introduced. First saw it advertised in The Reader’s Digest...(anyone remember these)?

Someone needs to make a way to use a non-proprietary cartridge on these things.
@gaborozorai3714Ай бұрын
Converting it to a P-mount system may just be physically possible (but a stretch as even P-mount cartridges are much bulkier than B&O ones) but probably not economically viable. Replacement styli can be had from Soundsmith I believe.
@bertroost1675Ай бұрын
@@gaborozorai3714 A P-mount would give a person cheaper options rather than buying a stylus more expensive than the used table.
@JgreatSoulАй бұрын
Great video, thanks! I'd just point out that there shouldn't be any crackles and pops if you have a clean stylus and a clean/undamaged record.
@BangOlufsenManchesterАй бұрын
It is most likely due to the vinyl record and the song playing. 'The Chain' starts off with background noise fading out so it is most likely a mix of that as the vinyl is twice as old as me!

I have a 4000 paired with my 8s through an external pre-amp. Does he offer this service to just 4002s?

I would personally email him at Mark.Cooper@multicare.org.uk to ask him about his services!

Thanks for including the design brief PDF. It reminds me of the many dealer events that I attended at the USA B&O HQ in Elk Grove Village, IL. Can you please share who is playing the background music on the non-black vinyl record and in the background of the video? Thank you.
@BangOlufsenManchesterАй бұрын
The background music throughout the video is royalty free music called Sunlit Depths - The music on the vinyl player isn't on this video due to copyright reasons but the vinyl itself is Future Nostalgia by Dua Lipa
@pascalhibon7928Ай бұрын
Nice player; it has been treated with respect! What record is that with the "dancing images"?
@BangOlufsenManchesterАй бұрын
It is a company called Blood Records who work with artists to create unique vinyl designs such as the ones in the video. The one featured in the video is by Dua Lipa 'Future Nostalgia'

Let me guess, this re-vitalized table is some ridicules price of somewhere around $10k or something? I seem to remember seeing these a while back and just had to laugh. They were shipping them in a wooden crate at the time.
