Debatable. I mean yes Lexus are amazing products from Toyota there is no arguing that. But reliability stats show Honda and Toyota base engines are less failure rated than Lexus or Acura. Actually only Toyota Honda and Lexus are even in the top 10 not even Acura so goes to show the luxury brand counterpart of a reliable brand isn't as reliable as the father/mother brand. Clean Carfax which doesn’t mean everything nowadays because some body work can be done without being reported to the insurance company. All maintenance was done at the Lexus dealership in South Jersey through 110,000 miles. Timing belt water pump and valve cover all replaced at 87,000 miles At the same Local dealership. Just installed 4 new struts (the rear ones starting leaking bad). Now It rides like new, the rear end sits high the way it came from the factory. Amazing fit and finish, quality and craftsmanship is unparalleled. Lexus/Toyota are the most reliable cars in the industry!

Not bad. From Jersey and NY too. I got a Prius and Tucson. For some reason on the Prius I never noticed the dam thing didn't even have a serpentine belt 😒 just had that checked cause I had it for 3-4 months and it didn't even overheat until now. I'm talking about the dam thing ran without a serpentine belt that whole time without blowing a head or something! Solidified that Toyotas are bulletproof and this is a 07. Not sure if it having a timing chain helped it go longer without the belt but I know for a fact it needs that for the car accessories. It's crazy cause I did check the front end a few times and seen a belt was missing but thought I was going crazy then a mechanic confirmed it for me.

Those were extremely good cars that were very smooth and comfortable. Unfortunately the newer Toyotas are not nearly as good. 230,000 is actually low mileage for the age of the car and it should go for many more. The 1990s were a high point for vehicles. The Toyotas we're very good and even GM made some very good vehicles in the late 1990s through the early 2000s. I still have a Silverado from the mid 2000s that has nearly as many miles as that Lexus. It's had very few repairs with just the alternator and two front wheel bearings replaced other than normal maintenance. We used Ford/Mercury Crown Victorias/Grand Marquis in the 1990s for business and several went for over 400,000 miles with few repairs. Normally no repairs until over 200,000 and even then it was usually an alternator or something minor. Even the transmissions last if you did the maintenance. I don't think we ever had a water pump fail on the 4.6 in those or F150s back then. Even Nissan made some excellent vehicles in the 1990s. I knew people who had Sentras that had 300,000+ miles with few problems. The days of excellent long lasting vehicles seems to be a thing of the past. Now all you can buy are vehicles with tons of problems and expenses before they're prematurely ready for the scrap yard.

Like it already wasn’t slow to begin with, ever since Covid started it got super slow my mother constantly complaining about how she’s bot getting her bills on time (invoices) and she doesn’t do online bill pay or sees the online statements. She’s old school and prefers it that way for safety of her debit card and uses checks. But lately her Insurance/WiFi bill from the insurance company and cable company either don’t show or they do but weeks late past the due date and she’s pissed because she doesn’t want to randomly send out a check that might not be the right amount or without the envelope they send to use ( most places don’t anymore) but when it first started happening she was a mess because she didn’t know where to send the shit and calling the companies even the reps didn’t know shit they all want u to set up account online and pay that way and she won’t do it . Sad state we live in nowadays and honestly I think that the post office slowed down it service months ago and waited for the right time and policy change ( gotta do it for legal purposes) to “announce” a “set time” that mail would start “slowing down” when in reality it’s been slowed down from every carrier I’ve even heard people over nighting things and it taking 2-3 days to recovery. Now it’s been many moons since I’ve shipped anything but I remember when I did daily with eBay and such and I could overnight something normally OR overnight it with confirmed delivery by 9 am or noon ( noon was cheaper) and it was guaranteed BUT it was almost double the price then the standard overnight. I wonder if they don’t offer that “guaranteed “ by a certain time anymore because if they did these people that are depending on these overnight packages that need to be there would be selecting that option and not just the regular over night postage (I’m talking usps) don’t know if fedex ups Dhl or similar if they offer that type of service to begin with

@@Zephyrdaze1819 There are far more w140's here if you look on the car sites. But at this point it mostly comes down to the owners. Many people, especially in the US it seems, think they can buy those vehicles for cheap and then drive them to the ground without paying for scheduled maintenance. That's the reason most of these cars are gone. And then when the suspension is worn out for example people dont want to pay for a new setup in such an old car that is not worth much on the market, and the car goes to the junk yard instead. Your professional way of doing things is commendable.I worked in auto parts for 27 years,and did deliveries sometimes to a lot of shops.It seemed like the successful shops that I would actually recommend were tidy and orderly.Some were absolute disasters and even dangerous because of all of the crap on the floors.

Maybe older Toyota/lexus. After my experience wiith my 18 Camry, i will never look at that brand again. Three years of ownership and 22k miles and my transmission slipped, my panoramic sunroof derailed and needed replacement (12k dollar warantee job), my radio head unit went out (4k job), and then my sunroof went bad again. That coupled with the dealership being extremely hard to work with to fix warrantee jobs. I didnt beat on this car whatsoever and all service was done in a timely fashion. I was so disapointed. Got rid of it for a mustang and must day that the domestics have come quite a long way.

Its pretty rare to have those problems with Toyota. I have a 2015 Camry, solid as a rock, no issues. I think 2018 was a new model. Toyota are usually really good at getting a new model reliable right from the start, but hey, even they are not perfect. We have Toyota Hiace at work, we had a 2009 model with 450,000kms, still ran ok, but starting to become a little unreliable. Still not big issues, but lots of problems with the aircon. Started to drink a little oil. And the whole van felt tired and rattled like crazy. But I think the 1990s Hiaces were even better, more durable.

The power steering pump has a tendency to leak onto the generator, braking it, and the egr pipe at the back of the engine usually cracks and makes for an exhaust leak you can hear.

The main problem is that there is a GINORMOUS backlog of 65 ships waiting to be unloaded at the ports of LA and Long Beach because of a shortage of both longshoremen and truck drivers. Essentially the proliferation of Just In Time shipping throughout the entire supply chain has backfired on everyone and has caused the supply chain to completely implode in on itself.

@@Primus54, there is. About 2 years worth of difference. The point is that even those who didn't switch to JiT did and have run out of parts soon enough over the last 2 years (almost) of pandemic issues. By the way, for the first time ever, Toyota has outsold GM in the US in the previous quarter. Depending on how they produce and sell in this final quarter, they just might be able to claim to have outsold GM for all of 2021.

@@jmark7390 Well I suppose my point is that he had access to all of Toyota's expertise, and reportedly spurned it. It's an act of supreme confidence to assume that one can do it better than Toyota can, when they have consistently been the biggest and best car company in the world for decades. The launch of the 3 series showed that Musk could not in fact get anywhere near Toyota's effectiveness. Or Ford's. Or even Proton's. He has basically condemned the company to eventual failure because it's clear he's not got the mindset required to make money in a cut throat market. Nor has he the mindset to be able to successfully wipe out the market completely, even if he thinks that's what he's going to do. Toyota are moving towards EVs, at a sensible pace. Note that EVs are viable (barely) only in electricity-rich Western countries and there's another 5 billion customers who can't use them at present. Globally there's a huge amount of money to make from the ICE yet.

I love the look of the LS 400, still a very classy vehicle. I've bragged over and over as to the reliability of my 07 Avalon, today for the first time ever I got in, started the engine and immediately knew it didn't feel right, then I saw the check engine light flashing. As I drove her I could tell I have a dead miss on one cylinder, so she's going to the doctor tomorrow. There's a couple of maintenance items I'll have done while she's there. Fortunately I have a mechanic that's as trustworthy as the Car Wizard.
@majist03 жыл бұрын
Meh if it's flashing it's usually just an ignition coil failing causing a misfire. Happens a lot on Toyotas and usually something you can easily do yourself. I mean, REALLY easy. One bolt, slide off an electrical connector, and it's out. Avalons are amazing cars.
@lindanelson84003 жыл бұрын
@@majist0 yes sir, that's what the problem was. Unfortunately it was on the back bank of cylinders, so the intake manifold had to come off to get to it. As for my being able to fix it myself, I wouldn't have a clue where to start. The last vehicle I had that I felt able to work on was my 73 Ford F-100 pickup truck. 🙂👍

@@lindanelson8400 Corolla, or any Toyota engine that as inline so you only have one bank of cylinders and heads. Not that it matters too much, the Avalon will rarely break down on you.
