Judging from some of the wood, it looks like there may have been a fire, possibly in the ceiling. That would explain everyone getting out in a hurry and not coming back. There is one of these in Lansing, MI. It was still operating a few years ago.

Diners are fascinating and (I believe) uniquely American. It's a shame to see the decay in this one, but I sure appreciate you bringing it to us, Chris. Definitely a look into the past!

Pretty sure that was fire damage. It appears the people must have gotten out and things were left as they were. Hopefully they all got out safely. It's sad to see no one restored the place. Maybe there was no insurance to rebuild? Love these old diners. Thanks for the video.

G'day Chris, thank you for showing how this Diner would have looked in its heyday. Such a shame it was left to rot. Great video. Sending you good wishes from Melbourne, Australia.

Wow I remember back in the early 80s my next to my grandmother's restaurant, there was a pharmacy that also had an old soda machine milkshake fountain. I mean just seeing these things that you remember from your childhood it's just nostalgic. But I'm noticing that all of the stainless-steel is still intact. Just wow..good one❤

Wow, so interesting to see. Nostalgia. Wish these diners would make a comeback. Many memories made there, over good food and conversations. ❤ TFS

I saw your southern, Colorado s trail show a while back and today I was surfing the web and was really happy that your still here. This diner is nostalgic for this New Jersey shore guy now living in Ferndale,WA. I don't know if you'll reply, I left comments on the trail video, but I spent two summers in the1968 ad 1969 visiting areas like you do now. I remember Diners like this when I was really young in the fifties, Jersey had quite a few. Crystal Diner in Dumont, N.J. was an early one. I am amazed how well preserved this one is. Too bad it couldn't be restored. Thanks, Rik Spector

I watch a lot of the broken window theory- excellent channel as well. Doesn't this make you wonder how this happened. My thoughts would be they stayed open for business up until the doors were locked.

I’d love to know the story of this one, plates & bowls left on the table is a bit spooky. When I moved to Florida in 2012 I was so disappointed in the lack of diners. Growing up in eastern PA diners were the place to go after bars, midnight movies, or if you couldn’t sleep. Long before social media it was fun to chat with friends over fries & jukebox music. Thanks for another nostalgic video ✌🏼

It reminds me of the former Kedge Restaurant (Caledonia, Nova Scotia), which seemed to have been around from the 1950's sometime until about the late 20th century (?) It started out as a locally owned diner serving lumber truckers and seasonal tourists. It was sold to a German family who tried running it for a while towards the end. I recall looking through the windows when it was in abandoned condition - very much like the diner in your vid.

I spent about twenty years of my life trying to educate people about the history of these things, and here we have a someone walking through this hulk making all manner of wild speculations about what he’s looking at. If you would just mention what town you were in, I could have solved all of your mysteries. But to what end? Sigh. BTW, it's not a Mountain View.
