They’re much more elaborate in Australia, they try getting you to trade bitcoins and forex and often the internet company. It’s non stop.

Even better, assuming it is possible to develop a consumer version of this where you can train the bot to your voice and synthesize it. You could run it yourself and have the bot call them with your voice. Naturally that may open a whole new can of worms. The important part is that the bot gets more voice variety so the scammers have a harder time recognizing the bot.

Fooling someone with AI the other way around is possible but will be a lot more difficult. So much more context and nuance to handle. But who knows

The scammers already use semi automatic methods with auto dialing then a voice asks you a question with a pause, then you get transferred to a real person if you answer. It might work with some scams, but the gift card scam would be hard to automate, that's why a real person talks through the process

This. What's interesting, is this whole time Kitboga is saying "I need to fix that, it's confused, it's stuck" - but ironically the inherent stupidity and random responses may be what breaks the scammer's natural skepticism. If it was too good it might not work. So, save some of these older versions, and definitely don't reveal it's a bot. It's like revealing your poker hand after a successful bluff, you're giving away information in a very competitive game of disinformation.

I think Kitboga should fix most of those because it was repeating the exact same statements over and over again or talking directly over them. If the randomness is actually part of its selling points, then he could code that in or provide it an array of possible responses where it picks one. Plus it would be more efficient at getting their bank account numbers if it wasn't constantly interrupting them.

Finally a way to beat the scammers at their own game. Imagine AI callers that become so sophisticated that it is near impossible for the scammers to know if it is real or not. Then flood their phone lines with AntiScam bot calls. They would all fold up and quit this game. I suggest that some serious coding and development is worth the effort. Think of the thousands of innocent people that would be saved from scammer treachery.

When they start using the same code they'll not necessarily get a higher success rate, but they can try to scam more people per day, which will eventually increase the amount of money they steal.

This is my one complaint about services like nomorobo. Don't just intercept the call and hang up, attach it to a AI farm and waste as much of their time as possible. Heck, solicit a volunteer pool of scambaiters who'll accept a nomorobo transfer and, again, waste their time. You'd have to think it wouldn't take much to totally gum up their scam.

Great script and great progress. Script needs to be further optimized with an engine determinate listen/evaluate/response with priority flagging based on previous staggers in the conversation, because primarily without it flagging variables along the way as to how deep into the call feedback it has reached, it has no reasoning at the levels it gets to. It needs to "know" when it has hit the thresholds of the call to guide its behavior further, so once it had achieved result to agreement to produce the bank information, it should then have had answer priorities weighted further towards gaining the details and not fall back on earlier phased responses. This type of logic has been used greatly for bots that play games to grind items/gold for years and years and you should have your Devs explore this logic further. Look forward to the progress you keep making with this, excellent start with a basic "proof of concept" test that succeeded.

making the desire for it to be keeping the call going, and past and after launch calls as sources for audio clip pools and scammer statements I agree. But honestly the training sets would not be anywhere near enough to have a ML instance actually formulate its own non robotic seeming replies to a active conversation..Huge tech companies have worked to achieve this and they achieve far from perfect results in AI that formulates their own replies to actual spoken conversation and those use a lot of computational power. The biggest factor here in the favor of this project is that scammers tend to read from a script as well limiting the scope of the conversation meaning most scripted replies are likely to make sense.

Having the continue/yes/no interaction could also be used to automatically generate new training sets with the tagged areas and their human corrections more easily, seems like a good idea ll together. If they want to waste time, it can still be trained to be stronger and then synthetically waste time through more complex interactions. That would be a more correct way to do it instead of mis-applying the wrong tech for the job.

Yeah, but once one AI is trained that can fool scammers, even if the scammers adapt, this has proved that an AI is able to trick them, so with some more code, it could do it again against their new tricks. Eventually, the scammers will simply be put out of business because AI's can be duplicated easily while getting real money becomes an ever more difficult task. I would say I'm concerned that these scammers will use an AI of their own to make their jobs simpler... but I don't think they have the brains to know what to do with an AI if it were given to them. I'm slightly concerned somewhat smart and greedy would use this to trick people, but even then, it's an AI. People are far more unpredictable than I think an AI can currently handle.

I got a scammer call the other day as well but I've never tried to keep one on the line, I just call them out on their bullshit. It was an automated message about renewing my car warranty so when the scammer got on the line I said "sure I'll renew it, just tell me what car it's for". When they couldn't answer I just told them to fuck off with their scam. The dude was Indian of course, they're really giving themselves a bad rep with this crap.
