I will mention, I have had the same issue with a lychee or two. The issue being they seem to almost not grow at all. What I have observed is many of these nurseries are neglecting the lychee's and they are completely root bound. I have even trimmed the roots and still had no success. It really goes to show you that it is important to buy from nurseries who care about their product!

You guys explained from time you put in the ground to how old the tree aged. So much education on how when and how, thanks because most videos don't explain as you have in this video. Dag on great video from the north,NY from. Long island. Yes and you do have an accent. I'm in Aiken SC and trying to grow exotic fruit also from banana, passion fruit ,akibia, Black berries, raspberry, plums, pineapple guavas, blue berry. Thank you so much for the video.

The analogy of young children 3-4 years old coming to a new country and learning the language faster than 10-15 year olds was excellent.

Tell the nice guy that ants on his trees are not eating bugs, they are usually farming scale. That means the formation of black sooty mold will soon follow! Whenever you see ants trailing on your trees, always check for scale, mealy bugs, or other insect activity.

@@silverfizzy did you graduate in 67? Where did you live? Were you closer to Utica Ave or Kings Hwy? The exact address please. My ESP told me Tilden. I’m thinking E 51st to E 57th between Glenwood down to around say Ave L?

@@silverfizzySo you lived 3 blocks from the train that went to Lincoln Terrace park the Sutter Theatre and Livonia Ave by Fortuneoffs and Bettsy Head park. And if you went down by the train and kept going towards Pitkin but made a left on Sutter and went a block and a half down towards the movies you’d be in Front of my dad’s grocery. If you graduated in 67 you’d know Phillip Marquis the great Tilden Athlete who was the only kid at our elementary school who could punch a ball further than me. His son Jason was a major league pitcher for 13 years. What does this have to do with tropical fruit? Well we’ve come a long way! You probably had your bar mitzvah in that shul within a block or 2 from your residence on the corner on Kings Hwy. Maybe it was right on your corner. Passed it all the time when my dad drove me up Kings Hwy to work. Ruby the knish-man lived right by you!! Talking Knishes did you ever go to Irving’s Knishes on Rutland Rd and 96th? I saw all the 3 Stooges movies at the theatre by Saratoga and Livonia. Saw 10 Commandments at the Lowe’s Pitkin. A great time and place to grow up.

The Thomas Sapodilla seedling looks a lot more like a canistel.
@silverfizzy3 жыл бұрын
I bought the fruit from Alex at his farm stand, It is not canistel, I grow Trompo and Aurea Canistel and I can see the similarity in the leaf structure.

Why is a 3 gallon now considered a 7 gallon?
@weiss6133 жыл бұрын
Because during the pandemic there was unprecedented Demand for the best mango varieties and everyone sold out. Both retail and wholesale had almost zero inventory. So growers had to grow seedlings and graft to build up inventories. Then when the 3 gal trees were strong enough to sell a few got transferred to 7 gal pots to be sold 3 months later for almost twice as much. I bought tiny Kathy’s 4 months ago in 3 gal and was thrilled to be able to get them. I wanted 12 Kathy’s in the ground NOW and I didn’t care what I paid or their size. That’s called pent up demand. I bought tiny Sweet Tarts in 7 gal last month and was thrilled that I was able to even get them. So yes that’s why 7’s are 3’s etc. and 3’s are liners.
