He's a sweet guy innee this HatchTag farang 555. I know a couple of indian friends who speak thai well but only one "farang" from brazil who really got the language. Good to see there are many more like him. I thinking moving to thailand early on helps with the language learning. In our workplaces, almost everyone switches to english when a foreigner is around (most of the time)

Hey Hatch, fellow American here who's teaching English in Ayutthaya. Glad to see another adventurous American having an awesome time in the Land of Smiles.
When this guy graduates I’ve got a job for him in Bangkok, no joke. I moved here when I just turned 22 from California and never looked back (15 years in SEA, 6 in Bangkok). This guy puts me to shame with his Thai and appreciation for Thai culture, super impressive, especially for a fellow American.

Years ago when I was teaching at ECC next to Chulalongkorn University I would often go the the school caferiea. Just as you said it was cheap, very tasty and had large servings. It brings back fond memories for me.
Your Thai sounds so native, it is unbelievable? I found sitting in the Thai local language school to follow the traditional method of their teaching doesn't make us progress fast, but you guys using the foreigner method to teach us is much better, make the language more interesting and easy to understand !
I wholeheartedly believe Trevor wouldn't be what you're afraid.

Hi Paddy! You have to move to Thailand permanently and make a name for yourself there. Once the Thai people discovers you and embraces you, you could make a living there! Look at Ajarn Adam for instance. He is an American who moved to Thailand about 10 years ago and now he’s recognized as the premier English teacher in Thailand on KZbin and on television. You can do it Paddy!

Five years and he speaks Thai di? Dang... I am jealous at 62 I find that the plasticity that once was a HUGE factor in learning everything by observation has become concrete and Thai just rolls off my ears. I can speak it more than a little but fang bilulian I hear but do not understand all of it. Thanks for the videos Pad, I realize that subject matter conceptualization, scripting, videography and editing these is quite the task and I appreciate it. Not a gripe but check the lens on your device, it seems to have a haze on one side of the lens. :)

I gotta say as a fellow american, it is VERY strange indeed for an american to WANT attend a university in bangkok.. It should be acceptable by many people here in america, but its NOT... I mean look at how many thai people would kill to come over to america and study in a major university?..Correct , thousands and thousands. So to see an american shun the american college system is rather strange indeed. As it goes against the norm.. Since this guys thai is soo good-- he most likely will LIVE and WORK FULL TIME in thailand upon graduation from Bangkok U. Which in reality, - nothing wrong with that, other than he will not be a thai citizen and thus be without the rights of a thai citizen..If he pulls off having dual citizenship at the end of his graduation, then I will be REALLY, REALLY impressed!!..Tell Hatch, that having lived in arizona, (phoenix), he 's not missing too much except for the low paying jobs and the massive rampant crime and the rude people..Rudist people I've ever met are in phoenix, az.. Why?... Because its a meca of retired people from back east...But thats a whole diff story...So My advice is yeah, stay in thailand as long as possible..30-60 years.. And if you miss your family in Arizona... Tell them to move to thailand and live the good life..
