They're all good voice actors, this wasn't done by amateurs. It's why it's so damned weird to hear the dissonance between a legit looking show that sounds legit but is saying the most insane shit.

​@@vetreas366 In this case, it's because the VAs were never given a translated script, so they had to make shit up just to do their job. Now if you know or ever learn French, try and listen to the French dubs of the more violent or horny 80s/90s anime, like Hokuto no Ken or City Hunter. The people who bought the rights to those shows didn't watch them in advance and thought they were just cartoons for kids, like they were used to, so when the localisation teams actually watched them, they often decided of their own volition to censor any violence and nudity and to make the dialogue absolutely fucking stupid. And it is glorious. We all have fond memories of those dumbass dubs here in France ^^

The team has been quoted in an interview roughly saying "We wanted to be equal opportunity offenders, leave no one out in feel it." Basically they yearned for True Offensive Equality 👌 which only ages better with time, especially in today's world like it's become Fine Wine! I did not know this. The guy who voiced Hajime, Chris Patton, also voiced the main character from The World God Only Knows, Keima. He's also voiced Gintoki from Gintama The Movie, Greed from both Fullmetal Alchemist series, Sousuke from Full Metal Panic, and Andromeda Shun from the 2003 Saint Seiya show. I really like all these characters and I had no clue they were all voiced by this guy.

A lot of people, comment on how these jokes would not fly today. Rather than view it as how enlightened of a culture we have become, you know with people eating detergent pods and falling off cliffs for selfies, etc, I prefer to look at the other way. Even today these jokes are funny in context and if you are someone who is willing to offend equally, so that means that we have actually lost a good chunk of our collective sense of humor. That is sad. People need to laugh more and at everything.

One of the best modern mech anime releases tbh and flew pretty heavily under the radar when it came out in 2021 cause of other heavyweight titles during the season like AOT, JJK, and Mushoku Tensei etc. But absolutely a dope show worthy of watching for any mech or even just military conflict story fans

Jack talking about abridges makes me feel old but nostalgic. From Code MENT dry but heavy punch humor(seriously, code ment is a lot more than soup) to DBZA, which made the og anime completely obsolete to me, to say nothing of Hellsing, I am pretty sure I swapped my teenager formation from emo songs and dating girls to binge watch abridge series. It is really hard to recommend most of abridges because most of them make fun of really not funny stuff, from racism to SA (machinabridged even adressed this), which really is a product of it's time, 4chan and all that jizz. Jazz. But you go in with a open mind and there are a lot of quality work that you don't see even in modern dubbing. Sad that some of them went on indefinite or infinite hiatus and others moved to other things. But all content makers, from Martin to Lani, have a special place in my brain TLDR: Taka, step on me

ADV made a masterpiece with this dub. The DVD had the subtitled original series, and the stories are pretty much the same, but all the lackluster drama has been replaced with raving humor. The writers and VA's really hit this one perfectly.

The heil hitler moment is kind of confusing in this compilation because the timing is off and lacking context. They are standing around a summoning circle and chanting to invoke a demon. There is a pause in which nothing happens and the lead girl raises her hand, which is when she says "Oh yeah.... Heil Hitler". Which completes the summon. Perfect when you watch the whole thing, falls a little short in this bit.

The weird way the characters interact in the rewritten English Dub. Is sometimes so off the wall it gets in the way of the plots. Making this show just a bunch of raciest, sexist jokes, with tones of dated references to celebrities of the time. That also has a loose plot mix in there. Like at the end of episode I think it was 6 the characters just tell you what the message of the episode was because of how weird that episode was.
