@@brrrrrr what I meant is that the app doesn’t just track up and down movement as steps or just gps location. Many people think they can attach it to a car and drive around, but that wouldn’t work, or attach it to a machine that tricks the app. You would need to design a humanoid robot that actually walks like a human and travels a real distance for it to work.

@@brrrrrr except “I can just imagine someone making a machine” implies that an independent engineer will in the near future (I interpret weeks or months from now) make a machine (or robot) that runs like a human, while the only robot that can actually run is Boston Dynamics’ Atlas. Mind you Boston Dynamics is a 300 employee company with the most advanced technology in robotics, a huge budget and years of research and development. So making an actual robot that can mimic a human running is out of the question, The alternative that comes to my mind is something that happened in 2016 with Pokémon Go, when people made threadmill-like machines that would trick the app to think you were moving and would open eggs without you having to actually walk or run (as the OP said specifically run). Or the other possibility I initially mentioned, and the one Arun tried. Inspired by a meme I saw, I don’t remember exactly how it said but it was a text conversation where one asks if the other is in the bathroom, and if he’s jerking off. The other person responds something like how do you know? And the first person says that his Fitbit had gone to over 14,000 steps just from the up and down movement of the in that case Fitbit, but in this case Sweatcoin.
