Janardhan Rao's dedication to revive, 'Kaavi Art' is noteworthy. The precision and detailing bring out the accuracy. It reminds me of the shadow puppet in Kerala called 'Pavakoothu', the figures look similar.

Kavi Kala is the traditional art form of Konkani people. We brought it to coastal Karnataka and Maharashtra through Goa during migration. No proper justice to the history of Kavi art can be done without mention of Konkanis. Just like yakshagana is a traditional art form of tulunadu and Tuluvas, Kavi Kala is the traditional art form of Konkani people, it is our heritage. Deeply upsetting that it is being projected as a coastal Karnataka art form without even a single mention of Konkani people though it’s Konkani and Goan origin is well documented. Thankfully, Goan government is working on getting recognition of Kavi art as an art form of Goa and prime minister Modi has himself spoken about Kavi art of Goa.

Yakshagana is kannada art not tulu then konkanis were North Indians they came south after muslims invasion. Konkani itself pure kannada word it came from kannada word konku+ kana konku means croked kana means smal flat field .
