Welcome back everyone! In this video, I go through a few scenarios on when I use a popper, and how to catch bass when fishing with one. Leave me a comment below and let me know what I forgot to mention, or what you have questions about! The goal of this channel is to help people become better anglers. Thank you for tuning in!
MY NOTES:
When I use a popper:
When I am targeting a specific piece of structure
Two times of the year to use this bait:
Post-Spawn
End of summer // Start of fall
When I choose Size 60:
In calmer conditions and clear water
I choose the big size in:
Rougher water, muddier water
My go-to colors:
Bluegill pattern

Most years here in central OK my first bites will be on a popper in the prespawn. Or when they're dirt shallow and won't eat the popper ill gettem to show themselves on the buzzbait. But I have a popper tied on atleast 10 months out of the year. Weather depending in our crazy state! I feel like big bass eat bluegill baits up shallow better than shad in most cases to.

I use the 70 in shad color. The pond I fish seem to like the slower action rather than the buzz bait I usually throw. I guess I should try the bone color out there and see what happens.

Edwin, I have caught more bass on a rebel lure pop-r popper than any other top water lure. I was on lake mead and these bass would come out of 30 foot of water to hit my pop-r. I like to use it slow but there have been times when the bass like it fast. Do you ever just use braid like maybe 8 or 10 lb? Do you not change your hooks to a bigger size because it messes up the action? My favorite color especially in clear water is bone. I believe you said you like bluegill.
