hey, i just got into ballisongs and ordered my first vulp today, i only used 2 balisongs so far, which broke after a couple of hours after using them (had no idea back then, about the costs,quality etc.) i bought some rly cheap ones for like 6 and 12 dollars, I fell in love. However im worried that i wont be able to take care of mine as i should, ive watched many vids on how to take care of balisongs however there were only some about tuning etc. which apparently you dont do that often? Id like to know how often, when and what to do with my balisong so i take good care of it! (eg. when to tighten screws,when should i take apart the balisong) etc... would anyone be so helpful and tell me those things?

Alright I'll try to address everything the best I can since I'm very bad at giving advice and explaining. So as far as I know, when a bushing balisong is tuned, it shouldn't need another tune for a very long time. The only thing that might happen is that all the hardware will start to wear out so you'll have to change it. Regarding that, for replacing hardware, oiling and tightening screws it depends on how much you flip a day. I obviously reccomend to put teflon tape or loctite to make sure the screws don't come loose as often and since you didn't mention it, buy some balisong oil and apply it every once in a while to make sure dust and dirt won't gunk up the insides of the bali. For the last question, I'm not quite sure what you mean by "break". If you mean just the handles snapping in half and the blade going in pieces, that might happen but only if you treat your balis really bad. Other than that, yeah I believe pretty much anything is fixable, though it could get expensive if you need modwork. Hope this helps!

I’ll say what I do to mine: None of my balisongs broke, so I assume it’s all fixable. You’ll need some lubricant oil, which comes with the Vulp. You basically apply oil when you feel it’s a little dry, you’ll feel it, so don’t worry. You apply it on top of every pivot, one drop on all of them, so it’s four drops. The Vulp has T8 screws, and there’s a screwdriver on the box, but they are not the best, so I recommend you buying a good screwdriver. A thing I learned is that, if it has tap or play, before cranking the screws, make sure the tune is good, otherwise you’ll strip the screws trying to fix tap. Because it’s the Vulp, I assume it won’t have the best tune, so if you need, search a tuning tutorial on KZbin, and how to assemble a balisong. If it’s all good and you want to maintain the tune, apply loctite or Teflon tapes on the screw. I don’t take my Balisongs apart very often, only take them apart when there’s a black juice above the pivots. That occur because of oil, so you take ‘em apart to clean. When you disassemble, make sure to assemble it with all the hardware in the same exact way they where before. Same bushing on same side, same washer etc.

If you're on a good tune, don't take apart your balisong until it's time to replace the washers. Can use break cleaner to clean a bali without taking it apart. If it's a bushing balisong, whenever you feel the screws loosen, you can crank down on your hardware (loosen it just a tad before you tighten down and do it in one motion) and then you don't have to loctite. I use Teflon tape on all my balis instead of threadlocker and will hirsch has a guide on that.
