this movie gives me overwhelming nostalgia ESPECIALLY that intro, I remember it all very acutely. I even remember the dolls coming out and I was OBSESSED with the pink dress, the poodle, the more realistic setting, the movie poster itself. The strapless layered dresses were EVERYthing to me. I had that tiny pink handbag in the transition and I remember that background because I had the closet. This isn't even my favorite barbie movie and yet it was PEAK doll worship for me. And I still didn't realize this movie revealed she was an actor the whole time!

A while ago I watched this movie while being absolutely hammered together with some friends that were equally hammered. 10/10 experience, would recommend. I don't think I've ever laughed as hard at a movie. Also, that thing with the paddle really must have flown over my head because I had no idea that happened. Just one note: the salute is done with the right hand and the poodle did it with the left. Still weird

Basically in the Barbie movie universe, Barbie is an actress and the movies that give Barbie a different name is her playing a character in the movie, like in Princess and the Pauper, Barbie in Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and my personal favourites, Barbie in The Three Musketeers and Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses. All of those movies are Barbie staring in things that are based on existing stories. There's also other movies that Barbie is an actress in, but I don't think they're based on already existing stories such as the Fairytopia and Mermaidia series, Mermaid Tale 1 and 2, and Barbie Princess Charm School. But then you also have movies like A Fashion Fairytale (this movie comes first) and A Fairy Secret, where it's literally shown that Barbie is an actress who acts in movies. In A Fairy Secret, she's famous and walks a red carpet and has paparazzi all over her. In these two movies, she goes by Barbie as her name, so supposedly in these movies we're looking into her actual life, whereas in the movies where she's playing a character, she goes by a character's name. The Barbie Life In a Dreamhouse series that's on KZbin is like her reality show.

I had recently rewatched this with a friend and our first thought was " has she....never received any criticism before? ", she really just decided to quit acting, a career she is clearly successful in seeing how many movies she has made, the whole "why should i keep doing something if no one likes it" is kinda bullshit here cause its not like shes terrible, she just has a few haters, which is normal, most especially for celebreties, so its not like shes lost her whole fanbase
