How is it that a BARBIE MOVIE is able to write a more compelling female lead with an interesting love interest who isn't a glorified satellite, then 95 percent of Hollywood? Like Yes, she's the most special multi-talented person in existence, BUT at the same time, the writing and her voice actress give her so much personality that makes Barbie feel like such a genuine, hard worker, nothing is ever handed to her. the writers ensured Barbie earns her happiness through a combination of determination, clever thinking, and compassion that it simply wouldn't be accurate to just slap a "Mary Sue" label on Barbie and call it a day!
