I'll explain David Gilmour's style. Guitar Magazine back in the mid - late 90s wrote: David Gilmour is The Undisputed Dean Of The Compound Bend and has practically Perfect Note Placement. His solos are not technically difficult Note wise, but to be able to bend and release is difficult to mirror. David Gilmour said, not verbatim as I'll try to explain, that he plays his solos, mainly, as if like an Opera Singer. Play a note and bend it in certain ways and shake it like an Opera Singer. Dave Mustaine of Megadeth said, David Gilmour can take one note and bend it in so many ways where many other guitarists have to use the entire fretboard to do so. Something along those lines. About David Gilmour's mouth movement as he plays is because he is actually singing in his mind and actually moves his mouth muscles as if he were singing it and then relays it to his fingers in order to achieve the sound and or sounds he is wanting to make and or perform. For example, studies have shown that when a person is annunciating a word or words in their mind their trachea and larynx, maybe just larynx, moves as if talking. A great example of David Gilmour singing the notes that he is playing is in the song, (Best Acoustic Song Ever) Wish You Were Here short solos. I was 15 years old when the Pulse Tour was happening and I heard a commercial for it. When I heard the voice of David Gilmour sing, in the advertisement, "Ticking Away The Moments That Make Up A Dull Day...." I thought, WHAT THE HELL? I went out and bought The Dark Side of The Moon Album. I just went straight to the song Time. Then, when I heard that guitar Solo of his in the song Time, I thought.. okay.. time to pick up a guitar and start learning. That Solo is considered a Masterpiece of Composition. Not technically difficult to play, but again... He is and still is The Undisputed Dean Of The Compound Bend with practically Perfect Note Placement. Hence why many people say, "Damn! He can make that Guitar Sing!" All my life, I never understood why the 2nd (last Solo) of Comfortably Numb was never #1 in Best or Greatest Solos of All Time. However, finally a few years ago it became The Greatest or Best Solo of All Time. If you understand Music and Math, that Solo can be played Indefinitely. (If you don't get tired) It goes from B down to E and repeats. David Gilmour in an interview said something along the lines of, "The structure of the music allows me the freedom to just play." 🎸 To end.. David Gilmour admits that he never was a fast playing Guitarist. Does he really need to be? (rhetorically asking) 🎸 ❤🎉 Stacey, I follow you now because of your reactions to Pink Floyd... ❤ Alice Cooper said something like, "Pink Floyd is Here... While everyone else is over here... " In an interview showing with his hands the separation of... No one is like nor ever will be like Pink Floyd.. 🎉 ❤😊🎉 David Gilmour is my favorite Guitarist and Artist 🎉 Roger Waters said that David Gilmour has a Very Powerful Voice 🎉

Everybody on the absolute top of their game in this one - David on guitar and lead vocal, Roger on bass, Nick on drums, Richard on Keyboard, Dick Parry on sax. The 7/8 beat gives it a unique extra kick, then switches to an upbeat 4/4 interlude with one of David's all-time best guitar solos, then back again. Just an absolute banger. One of the few times PF recorded a song meant to gain wide radio airplay, which it certainly did and still does. The next song is Us and Them. Love all your PF reactions, please keep it up!

"Money", Should never have become something we needed to survive! It was intended to be for things that we couldn't trade or barter for, so we could still get something that we wanted...not needed. Our daily needs should be shared, traded , bartered, even given outright to all! Skills, trades, knowledge, we all have things that others can't do to be useful and helpful to others that can do things we cannot. Only when we can't provide a useful item to obtain a "Want", should we resort to money! Sadly, greed is a more powerful emotion than empathy! Hugs, kindness and much love I wish for you Stacey!!! Your content reactions are valued here! Please continue.

I completely understand that you need to react to each song individually before reacting to the whole album. If you were to react to the whole album first, you would have to do pauses for copyright and then do the after-listen breakdowns after each song and it would get way too long to put into one video. It seems many commentators don't understand this, but I get it. Keep doing what you're doing Stacey, you're doing just fine. Love your reactions and the fact that you're a huge Pink Floyd fan already shows you have great taste in music.

I like your disclaimer that you will get around eventually to listening to their works from beginning to end as their intended "concept album". It makes me appreciate the dilemma of not really being able to do that, until you have done the first time reaction to select songs. I really enjoy the format you have come up with in your reaction videos with just a few short interruptions and then most of your commentary at the end. I think it is a perfect balance.

Great reaction. One thing not too many people notice about this song is that the main parts are in the time signature of 7/4. The guitar solo is in 4/4, then the song goes back to 7/4, and the odd time signature is hidden masterfully with the bass and drum pulse underneath everything. Another masterpiece from Pink Floyd. :)

This was the very first Pink Floyd song I ever heard. That’s it was in the Top 40 on the radio when I was in junior high school aka middle school back in 1973-74. They had top selling albums, but rarely had a song in the Top 40. That was a young David Gilmour singing, and that was his guitar solo of course. Roger Waters was jamming on the bass, Richard Wright was creating beautiful keyboard and synthesizer sounds, and Nick Mason was playing a great rhythm on the drums. Roger Waters made the cash register sounds.

The great thing about the bass line is that it fully spans the 7/4 measures. It is not a measure of 4 and then a measure of 3. I once heard Bert Bacharach on the radio talking about his song "I Say a Little Prayer for You." He was personally involved in the production of Dionne Warwick's version. Later Aretha Franklin did a version that Bert said was better but he did not know why. The song was in 5/4 time but Bert said it was really a measure of 3 and then a measure of 2. Both versions were played and I instantly knew why Aretha's version was better. Bert's version had measures of 3 followed by measures of 2 while Aretha's had measure of 5. That made Aretha,s version really catchy rather than choppy. The Floyd played that song with solid measures of 7 and even though I suspect most people don't realize that it is 7/4 time, the feel of the song is greatly influenced by the time signature. The change to 4/4 really propels the instrumental part, too.

Everyone who’s said you must listen to Dark Side Of The Moon in its entirety is right, so rather than do that as well, how about an anecdote about its iconic cover art? Apparently the designer, Storm Thorgerson (sounds Swedish, was English) laid out a few different ideas for the cover in his studio, all variations of the same theme. The band shuffled in, briefly looked them over, unanimously pointed at the now familiar image and said “that one”. And they all shuffled out. The whole thing took less than 30 seconds.

A couple of songs from around the same time (1971-1972) that have a similar vibe to Pink Floyd's "Money" are Dave Edmunds' "I Hear You Knocking", and T-REX's "Bang a Gong (Get it On)".

"Us and Them," which you reacted to before, is the song that follows this one. It's a great sequence that starts with this song satirizing our love of money flowing into the ways we tend to ignore each other or otherwise marginalize each other. Part of what makes The Dark Side of the Moon one of the greatest albums ever made. Although Roger Waters won't be winning greatest rock bassist any time soon (there's some stiff competition on that front), he, and each member of the band, were integral to the group's overall success. This is not meant as a back-handed compliment or criticism, but they really were greater than the sum of their parts. Anywho, another song that has a specifically music-business take on this topic is "Have a Cigar," which is about the materially-driven music business (that and "Welcome to the Machine"). Love your PF reactions!

Another classic tune on a huge subject that fits right in with other Dark Side of the Moon songs. It will all sound even better as part of a whole someday, this album is a classic case of the whole being better than the sum of its parts (which is hard to believe as the individual songs are so great in their own right). Thanks for acknowledging this and yes, I am patient and will love to see whole album reactions sometime this year. Albums were my generations preferred way to listen IF the album warranted such, this album is at the very top of any list of albums that are well worth listening to in its entirety. Any way you slice it Stacey, you are doing a great job and I look forward to a review of great classic Rock from you. You may not have a huge musical background but you get it and do a fine job, analysing songs in your style. Smart, likeable and beautiful is a hard combo to top when watching Yoh tube reviews, you are a bright light in any day I see you. For more Floyd, how about back to the Pompeii performance and Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun. They did Space just as well as psychedelia, that era will freak you out as they replaced Syd with David and set their sights on new sonic territory to explore. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶 😘

The original is amazing, and I'm glad you got to hear it. But you might want to have a listen to the Delicate Sound of Thunder ... they do a wonderful version of this song with a fantastic instrumental/vocal break section in the middle. Saw them live in 93 or so in the Division Bell tour ... it's the only show I've ever been to where being in the nosebleeds did not in any way detract from the concert experience.

Remember that we are talking about, in particular, the Pulse concert. Also, remember that we are all entitled to our own opinions and in my opinion it was a great concert. If you think otherwise, well, you're entitled to your OWN opinion. And that's fine. For practically all of the 1970’s - and into the early 80’s - Waters wrote all of the lyrics - and many of the songs. The arrangements of his song ideas were often greatly expanded upon by the other members of the band - with Gilmour & Wright adding plenty of musical texture & complexity to the pieces - and likewise Roger Waters would sometimes add things other than just lyrics to some songs written, or co-written, by Gilmour & Wright. Pink Floyd was a collaboration. It took all of them to create that amazing body of work. As far as who sang their album songs: David Gilmore 61 Roger Waters 55 Richard Wright 15 Syd Barrett 14 Nick Mason 3 According to my research.

most, not all, but most of the Roger Waters era Pink Floyd albums are referred to as "Concept" albums, think of each song as a chapter in the book (album). Dark Side, the Wall, Wish you were here, Final cut, and then Waters solo albums Radio Chaos, The pro's and con's of hitchhiking, Amused to Death. Each album tells a story and should be listen to in its entirety . Yes there are great songs that can be enjoyed on their own but the true magic happens when you hear the whole story. They truly are one of a kind

Good afternoon Stacey - the bass of course is played by Roger Waters. In recording circles it would be described as a dirty or nasty sound. I'm so glad for your enthusiasm to our generation's music. Enjoy the journey. I'm an old cop, yea, one of those, but I'm really a synthesizer nerd. When you get to the track, "on the run", there is an iconic synth sequence that is probably one of the most recognizable sounds in the music world. Yesterday I a played an album by genesis. You should check them out. I'm not talking about the Phil Collins era or solo Peter Gabriel. I'm talking a out the dbl, album, "the lamb lies down on Broadway " I'm not suggesting an on air review but for you, I think you will find it interesting. You have a great channel.

@thrusta100 Gilmour sang the lead vocal, which was also double tracked, including scat singing in response to some improvised guitar lines during the outro. A simple wiki search and you would have found the answer….

All these voices you hear in between the songs are recordings made by Roger Waters, asking questions to people that worked or hanged around at Abbey Road Studios at the time. The irishman was the doorman and his voice appears throughout the album. Roger also recorded Paul and Linda McCartney, but they started doing jokes that Roger thought didnt fit, so he never used those. Would love to see you react to Brain Damage and Eclipse, back to back as they're the album closing songs. Eclipse, in particular is a wonder... an entire life encapsulated in no more than 2 minutes of music and mind blowing lyrics. Give those 2 a spin.

Yes I can imagine 30 or 40 or 50 years from now you will be watching some young one listening to Pink Floyd for their very first time and nodding your head in knowing approval. Its as inevitable as Time itself. And they will likely do the very same thing when they get older too. And so on and so on.
