Wayne manor is quite a distance from Gotham City. Batman has to arrive on scene(s), foil the caper(s), use his afterburner to smoke the cops. Then take the scenic route back to the batcave. If Batman has a busy night he would have to ride around Gotham for an extended period of time. JP-4 mileage is a feasible consideration for the Dark Knight. ☻
