This bear is BIG for the winter!

A black bear, which I've named Mr. Waggles, puts on the pounds for a mild winter in the Los Padres forest. I catch up with him by checking my trail cameras in this brief video.

I wouldn't think SoCal bears do any kind of denning hibernation....?

Maybe a brief period of time, he didn't pass by any of my cams for a couple of months and then I noticed he became a "papa bear".
