I've had my MD304 for six months now, and I love it! I prefer the dark wood grain finish on mine to the sunburst finish on these two...

Still loving my md315, but would probably bought one of these if they had been available. Maybe.😊

You really can't beat the value/quality of Eastman's 300 series. I think you guys got this exactly right. Interesting to hear all four models back to back both plugged in and not. All subtly different.

Really great format on this short -- I agree with Alex!

Is a pickup really an upgrade? No. Not to me. I do like the sunburst finish though.

Hei, please, I don't have money. Could you please give me as Eastman mandolin as a gift. I promise that I'll take care of it as it were my baby.

No sample of the pickup for the oval holes? I am curious if there’s a noticeable difference there, since the oval hole seems to have more sustain. Do you think there’s any more propensity for feedback?

How are they to sing with? I hardly ever hear Jeremy sing with his mandolin. And where does the octive mandolin fit? Thanks John and Jeremy.

You say "you have covered all of them"... where are your reviews of The Loar mandolins??? Your opinion matters to me. Should I stay away from these? I have read both good and bad things about them. The Loars are graduated too and manufacturered by Luther's that are as skilled as anyone at Gibson. That comment may shock some out there.

From our experience, Loar hasn't been a very consistent brand, I feel like that is probably why you've heard both good & bad things. There is variance with any instrument, from any company & some companies are just better at controlling those variances. That being said we have seen our fair share of Loars that are great & some that are not so great. But also, Loars are at a lower price point because they aren't paying as much attention to detail for every mandolin they make. The best advice that we can give is to play any instrument you're going to buy in person, especially when it comes to a Loar. They are at a great price point & there are absolutely fantastic Loars out there, you just have to find them. Hope this helps!

If I can offer some insight here - I recently upgraded from a Loar LM-310f to an Eastman MD-315 (the original model rather than the one being reviewed in this video). Granted there are higher-spec models in The Loar’s line, but based on my experience I wouldn’t rush back to them. Details around the fretboard indicate that not much care is given to them, and the instrument had shockingly low volume on the higher strings. I couldn’t believe it when I got the Eastman - it made the Loar look, feel, and sound like a toy. If you’re looking for a solid mandolin without paying 3k and up, then I wouldn’t question going with the Eastman line rather than the Loar. I have a lot of experience with acoustic instruments - in my opinion, the Eastman 315 is “entry level” only because of its price relative to the other Eastman models. But compared to entry level mandolins offered by other manufacturers, the 315 certainly does not look, feel, or play like an entry level.

Love the 315! they all sound great. Jerry Rosa was asked what he would buy or recomend for people to buy and without hesitation, he said Eastman mandolins...best bang for the buck you can get!

Eastman makes really great instruments. Mandolin is not the hardest instrument to play but calling it “so easy” is just the guitar player being unfriendly in a jam.

Do you guys set up the mandolins after you receive them and before sale?
@AcousticShoppe
@AcousticShoppe 10 ай бұрын
We make sure that they are within the manufacturer’s spec and we can charge for a very specific set-up. For Eastman though, they are typically set up fantastic from their shop in Pomona and we rarely have to do any extra work with them.

Jeremy your mustache looks good but you really need a beard with it. Keep it trimmed a little closer than John’s and it’ll look good and be simple to maintain.
