This bike is really a steal for folks in the USA. My frame came via USPS from Posti (Finland). Did not get hit with any import duty (harmonized tariff schedule may exclude ebikes at 250W). If your are in the USA there is a HUGE discount to be had. First, Pole will discount the VAT from the Euro price (25%!!!!). Next, the Dollar is super strong right now and is at parity with the Euro, so ask Pole to send you an invoice in Euros with VAT exclusion applied. Use a credit card (e.g. Apple Card) which does not charge currency fees above normal exchange rates. To sum up: you are buying a super boutique bike at a 25% discount and no taxes!

Bought a used Turbo Levo with 1500km on the motor I think. Rode 6 times and felt like the belt came off. Less than 100km. I think it was the 2018-19 motors and the belt problem has been fixed. As an architect I'm seeing some clever aesthetic design choices that Leo from Pole made in his design of the CNC frame & swing arm. Typically machined billet aluminium has a "solid" appearance that often looks heaver than it actually is. The Pole design uses rounded shapes atypical of most CNC machining that rather than looking solid have a sort of 'inflated' look that suggests lightness. They are in fact very much hollow and lightweight, just as we perceive them to be. I'm also very impressed by the precision Pole achieves in their CNC machining. They work to a plus or minus 0.01 mm tolerance. Most probably don't understand just how amazing that is. Few consumer products are manufactured to such close tolerances. Eye glass lenses don't even have that precision! 0.01 mm is actually equivalent to the precision to which high-end camera lenses are ground. What that means is when Pole bonds two machined "halves" together with industrial adhesive, the two pieces seat together with high precision allowing an extremely high quality & consistent joint, with those joints almost imperceptible to the eye. I also appreciate they've made the CNC-related tool marks a unique feature. They tell a story, and it's one of mastery of the craft of machining. Much like how the 19th Century Arts & Crafts Movement influenced design both in the UK and Scandinavia by celebrating the skill of artisans, Pole's design & manufacturing celebrates not only the functionality but the "making" itself.

So glad you brought up the chainstay length VS overall wheel base. This is something I have learned with my latest bike, a dengfu e22. It has quite long effective chainstay length. And it works. The geometry looks outrageous when it's on the stand. Yet when you sit on it all those angles change. In fact the longer the travel the more extreme those angles go. That rear shock looks like it has a falling rate geometry but then the linkage has a virtual pivot point that moves back and reduces the mechanical advantage.

Hey Rob, being a taller rider i'm interested to hear how you find the cockpit space on this bike. Similar to the Kenevo, I found the slack HT and steep ST angles conspired to make the cockpit feel like my knees were so close to the bars they were going to do all the steering. The Voima's even more radical with it's geo and it looks like the seat's way too close to the bars if you're tall.
@RobRidesEMTB2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate - well, it all depends a lot on setup and bike size. I've tailored the setup (saddle angle and slammed forward) for steep technical climbs and have no issue with knees to bars when pedaling. When riding tracks, I'm standing with feet on pedals, so its not something I will notice. The only time I think i have noticed what you are mentioning is flat terrain when pedaling, but nothing that is any issue really. I could actually move to the K4 quite easily too and if you're tall this is something to consider. Everything is a compromise in geometry and its about picking the best for the job at hand. Steep ST angles are a must for me on ebikes, they just make tech climbs so much better. Anything less than 78 degrees feels compromised, especially as you get on bigger frames with longer droppers, your effective ST angle reduces (you're further rearwards compared to a smaller drop). The 80 degree on this just works well. Its slack, but not super slack, I measured the HTA and its around 63.5 in my build (the Kenevo out the box is actually slacker, although specialized quote 64.5!)

I am 6 2” and the large with a 35mm stem is perfect
@madmountainman51972 жыл бұрын
@@RobRidesEMTB Cheers Bud. The K4's got a 654mm ETT and I feel far more comfortable with something over 670mm, which suits my 1.98m height. Stack heights approaching 680mm are also much better, ergonomically, when you're at the upper end of yjr manufacturers height limits. Santa Cruz give the roomiest fit at present and their SA's close to 77 degrees and i'm ok running the saddle in the middle of the rails. My riding style puts seated comfort above performance, but we're all individual's, so everyone's got their own preference for the perfect geometry doe their preferred riding style and local terrain.

Although I did manage to put a pretty decent-sized dent and a crack to the swingarm as a result of a impact by a rock, but I've been riding for a year now without it causing any problems.
