He bought bunch of options and announced it to his followers which prompted many of his followers to buy them as well which drove up the price. He then sold them, pulling the rug out under them. He realize that he might get in trouble so he said that he is going to donate thee earnings. He still made money on tax write offs though.

So when you say that it's like 2k to most average people, it's equivalent to saying that average people will casually have a net worth of 20mil.
