"Anak" (Filipino for child or more gender specific my son or my daughter) is a Tagalog song written by Filipino folk-singer Freddie Aguilar. It made the finals for the inaugural 1978 Metropop Song Festival held in Manila. It became an international hit, and was translated into 27 languages.

the TUX! They were excellent! I hope you guys react to them, there are vids here on youtube, even live performances. Excellent all-male vocal group that came out back in the late 80s or 90s. They had excellent tight , beautiful harmonies, they had some really good OPM songs. Agree. The lyrics of "Anak" have a deep meaning. That's why it has been translated in so many languages in many countries. Please get hold of the English translation. And, maybe feature the foreign versions. In Japan, it's a very popular Karaoke piece among the Japanese. Freddie Aguilar (the original singer) is quite popular in Japan.👋🎼🇵🇭🎤🎵

Freddie is from the Luzon region a true blue TAGALOG (also used to describe the people from the North of Philippines) from the northern island....he wrote a song about his rebellious years as a teenager who disregarded his parents wishes and left them for a while and was plunge into the world of addiction i believe so.....he then realized what his done wrong and repented and became the prodigal son....he entitled this life-story narrative song "ANAK" meaning Child but since he meant it as a personal reflection of his rebellious youth the title synonymously is more apt tp be translated as "SON" ....its unfortunate that his daughter Maegan Aguilar followed in his footsteps and became known as the Bitch of the North ...
