Jev, I think your muscle memory of Elden Ring is working against you here. In Elden Ring the bosses had really delayed attacks so you'd wait right before they hit you to dodge. Bloodborne doesn't have many delayed attacks so you should dodge as soon as you see the attack coming in most cases

Also, at the cathedral ward, if you head straight, to the right before the stairs, there should be a monster with a bag. Let it kill you. You'll be transported to a new location. If it doesn't appear, might have to progress a bit further into the game.

Now i have like 600 hours and have beaten all bosses on BL4. There's absolutely nothing wrong with resetting because your first 5 hours into the game is where you learn the most.

Jev, your dodge has an incredibly quick "cast time" (cant think of another name for it) but equally short Invulnerability frames and dodge distance. Basically, when fighting most bosses, especially those with sweep attacks, try to dodge THROUGH the weapon/attack to a spot of safety. If you dodge in the direction of the weapon, you basically float within the hitbox with invulnerability until the invulnerability runs out, but the attack's hitbox is still there, and you're still inside of it, which is a reason as to why you kept getting hit during the Vicar Amelia fight. Think of it like sekiro deflecting, you have to time it perfectly, much like other souls games, the window is simply smaller.

I like to think of it as dodging into the attack and/or being aggressive. So after dying I'd think I need to be more aggressive or I need to dodge x direction into the attack. By the time I got to the "true" final (base game) boss the one after the last hunter. I beat it on my second or third try.

Couple tips for you Jev: 1. For bosses start using your gun to your advantage. Most bosses you are able to parry, and for larger bosses you are able to shoot their head to cause them to stagger. 2. Take advantage of the saw cleavers transformation move set (R1, L1, L1, R1). It staggers enemies like crazy, increases damage because it has a multiplier when you build a combo with it (not sure the specifics but there’s good videos detailing Bloodborne damage multiplier math) and builds up CRAZY amounts of extra damage when you use a beast blood pellet. 3. Speaking of beast blood pellets, they are incredibly useful but I recommend using them only when you are confident in your ability to dodge a bosses attack. You take increased damage when you have a beast blood meter active, and the higher it is the more damage you’ll take Loving the videos, keep it up. The best is still ahead!

Start doing combos like R1 L1 L1 because every combo multiplies so the first R1 hit is 1.0X damage then L1 is 1.2X and another L1 is 1.4X and so on Also combos fill up your beast meter faster after you use a beast pellet

Yes, i think jev thinks we’re telling him to utilize both modes of attacks and thinks of them as separate, the fast short attack and slow long reach attack. But we’re telling him that the transform animation is an attack itself that does more damage, whether it’s switching from short reach to long reach or vice versa, that transform animation does hella damage.

By the way Jev that door next to the chest at the bottom of the stairs is ALWAYS going to be closed. The devs intended to have that area connect with the end of a bridge closer to the spawn location. For some reason they left the door in but never put in a way to open it.

A couple of tips: - The transformation attacks are great at building your beasthood meter, so when you're using beast blood pellets they're basically needed to get beasthood up really high which will do significantly more damage. Higher insight also decreases your beasthood meter, so you want to probably have 0 insight going into a boss fight that you plan on using beast blood pellets in. - Levelling vitality is really strong since blood vials always heal 40% of your max health, whether you have 10 or 99 vitality, so vitality also in a way is how you upgrade your healing. - Fire paper is also very good to have, especially against beast enemies. You can buy both it and beast blood pellets using insight from the insight messengers in the Hunter's Dream. - You can kinda spam R1 in fights and shouldn't go for charged R2s unless it's a boss that does stagger (which there are almost none of). - For beast bosses, you really can just dodge to the left and behind the boss and hardly ever get hit. There's almost no attacks in the game you want to dodge away from, you're always forward dodging and staying in the fight. This game is way higher tempo than Elden Ring or Dark Souls.

I don't know if the fans already told you this, but the bloodborne dodge has I-frames and recovery frames. You're invincible during I-frames, but you take double damage once they end and you're in recovery frames. That's why some attacks might suddenly one-shot you. It's also why the golden rule of dodging is to dodge into an attack and not away from it.

Biggest thing about this game when fighting bosses, dodge THROUGH the attacks, not backwards. You’re essentially locking yourself into a danger zone by creating space rather than closing the distance. More often than not, dodging forward will place you directly behind the enemy for an easy backstab or giving you time to recover and heal

Word of advice, fire paper for beast bosses, lightning for humanoid bosses. Also insight makes the enemies “harder”, gives them new move sets, lowers beast pellet effects, adds more enemies to certain a areas, and decreases your resistance to frenzie. So use your insight in the Hunters Dream and buy element paper.

So just for some backstory on what the lore is here TLDR version Yarnham (the city of the entire game) basically started using beast blood to heal people from all afflictions, however this caused many of them to later become beastmen. The hunt is basically like “The Purge” where people go and kill the beasts at night, but they soon start losing their minds. After the fight with Amelia the cutscene between those to guys are basically leaders of the Church, one of them, the man on the rocking chair, wants to ascend to godhood using eyes (aka insight) Lawrence wants to use the “good” blood to advance humanity. Again TLDR version but that’s pretty much the gist of what’s going on right now. Things get crazier later on.

Hi Jev! Backstab viscerals usually only work on mobs slightly bigger or smaller than you, as long as its not gargantuan you can stagger it by hitting its back. For things like Cleric Beasts, Darkbeasts, etc. You'd need to hit the head multiple times to stagger them. The best way to do that is to hit the limbs and get them down.

Jev, I promise you the R1 L1 L1 L1 will work. Beastblood pellets grant you higher damage based on consecutive attacks. The bar that shows on screen will build faster with “transform” attacks (R1 L1 L1 L1). The transform attack/ beastblood pellet combo is great for beast-like bosses. Love the videos and I hope you stick to it!!

Vicar Amelia is super easy if you just parry her attacks, I managed to get her first try after realizing it would take some good timing to dodge her attacks. I was far too inebriated at the time to do it, but I got her with parries and heavy attacks with the Hunter Axe. I played with my headset turned up to max volume and had my eardrums burst every time she screamed. My ears are still ringing, but that's been there since before the fight. This isn't Dark Souls or Elden Ring, the game wants you to be aggressive, including the using the gun to parry attacks. I will say the Blunderbuss is way better at parrying, its wider spread makes it easier to punish attacks.

i beat amelia first try on my way to work this morning in the car. i was pretty late, so i had to speed a bit on the freeway, but good thing i have my playstation set up in my car to keep me entertained on the drive. i parried and i framed every attack and it took a while because im doing a level 1 no hit run for my first playthrough, but man is this game fun. also the soundtrack sounds amazing through the car speakers at 100 volume, hope the other drivers on the road didnt mind the screaming because i had to keep my windows down because my AC isnt working, but the breeze at 95 mph feels good while no hitting an easy boss.

4:29 that door is cut content that was left in the game. Originally there was a shortcut from the Cleric Beast’s boss area to the Cathedral Ward and that door would have connected them. They left the door in the game but it’s useless so you *can* forget about it

Big daddy Jev! Been watching you since the Dare Sniping days❤️ love the videos. Quick Tips: 1. Get the blunderbuss pistol. No explanation required. 2. Roll to the left, always. 3. Fire is for beasts and lightening is for anything with tentacles or more than 4 legs. 4. Don't worry about switch attacks, it's better on some weapons than others. Not your's. 5. Ludwig's Holy Blade (I think, can't remember name) is the best STR wep in the game. Can switch between a short/great sword. It's awesome. 6. Gems aren't too important till NG+, slot the biggest %+ and go crazy. 7. You know you're going to have to do the DLC right? RIGHT!?!??

This comment is incredibly wrong what the fuck. The saw cleaver and tricking it is literally the best weapon in the game tied with the saw spear (and the moveset is the same on both). The blunderbuss is also way too short range to really be that useful in some scenarios

This became my favorite souls game again after I picked it up after so long. Beat everything and loved every moment again. Jev don’t forget to use the trick weapons for high damage. Also if you really want a fun weapon you should look into the whirligig saw from the dlc, it’s great for beast hood buildup and can deal lot of damage to bosses. Also you have 2 paths you could take, you could go right after exiting the grand cathedral and get more twin bloodstone shards to upgrade your weapon and has the easiest boss in the game. You could go down straight and off to the right there is a path near the big guy that leads to the next area. Also don’t forget the rally mechanic, because of the games pace it saves so many bloodvials

Jev struggling on all the bosses I am just 1 shotting is hilarious to me. Just killed this 1 and the Hags that summon mobs 1 shot both 🤣. I mean the Blind Wolf chick is 1 of the EASIST in the game Jev ngl. I am TRYING TO TELL PPL *ELDIN RING IS THE EASIST SOULS LIKE OUT THERE* . The hardest part about Eldin was learning the atk animations and delay attacks. If you are struggling at Blood Beast boss go buy the Poison Res set from the insight fountain. Lot easier. For the blind wolf and Hags, I just have to tell you to simply be better or you may be under lvld. Charge attacks are your friend for clearing any mob hunters included in this game. Once you beat the Hags forgot their name you will know them you have to come back to the circle area here with the 2 Giants and go to the LEFT where it asks for a password to proceed. So, warp back to the Grand Cathedral run down the stairs and it will be on your right with a Giant kneeling in front of it. Edit: you will start getting twin bloodstones in the next area where you start seeing female mobs Jev. So, after this area go to the left of the Grand Cathedral or right if you are starting from that lamp I mean as soon as you go out the doors turn right. Also, the point of having those blood stones is after each boss is killed a new weapon will be available to buy from the messenger fountain. Not trying to backseat here just offer helpful advice dodging forward is your friend in a lot of cicumstances.

some tips: 1.beast blood pellets gain more power the more you keep attacking meaning the meter gets filled the more you attack so your attacks do more damage 2.having insight is not good overall so spend it as fast as you can keep up the good work jev

Jev the weapon combo is great to build up your beast meter when you take a beast pellet for a lot of damage. I am so happy you are playing bloodborne by the way. Keep it up. :)

When using transforming attacks (R1, L1) you get not only good damage but good stun as well. Using R1, L1, then L1 again to go back to original cleaver is one of the best combos you can do not only early game, but late game as well. Fast R1s are great for DPS (and getting health back via rally), but since it lacks the stun transformation attacks have, you are left open big time.

Hey Jev, love your videos especially the Bloodborne ones recently. Some advice since you were wanting to do a strength build in this game then you should geo and get the Kirkhammer. I'm sure you would like it since it does fat damage. You should be able to buy it from the fountain merchant for 3,000 echoes. Have fun man!

Using the trick part of the weapon (the longer version) can be used more as a combo extender, when you’re r1 stops or slows down opening up and closing the weapon again restarts the r1 attacks
