Great reaction. Wintersun is my third favorite band after Nightwish and Epica. They are Finnish. The lead singer is Jari and he is a well known perfectionist when it comes to his music. Jari was previously in a Finnish folk metal band Enisferum and Wintersun was supposed to be a side project but when a schedule conflict came up between Enisferum touring and studio time for Wintersun they parted ways (nice way of saying they let Jari go) and so WIntersun became his full time gig. The album this song is from (Time 1) is legendary in that they recorded over 200 tracks for each song. Due to a number of reasons, one of which was that computer technology wasn't advanced enough to be able to mix all the tracks properly, the album wasn't released until 6 years after it was recorded. In fact the recordings were broken into two albums, Time I and Time II to be released separately. Time 1 was released in 2012 and Time II is supposed to be released this fall after many years of delay. You know the drummer Kai, he was Jukka's replacement in Nightwish back in 2014. The bassist, Jukka, replaced Marko in Nightwish joining them in 2021. His first gig was their virtual concerts during the pandemic. The other lead guitarist, Teemu, joined Megadeath in 2023 as a replacement for lead guitarist Kiko Loureiro. Next song would be Sons of Winter and Stars from he same live play though at Sonic Pump Studios. Another masterpiece that feels like the soundtrack to an epic Norse saga. My third sing recommendation would be Loneliness(Winter) from their Forest Seasons album. It is my favorite Wintersun song. Feels like a beautiful metal dirge and very doomy. I grew up in northern Vermont so I know winter and the song perfectly captures the silence and isolation of winter. Jari has captured that feeling in a way that only a Finn could. A great metaphor for grieving. I'll hold off on recommending Enisferum songs for now but you will want to check them out as well, especially the first two albums with Jari. Interesting fact, Jari contracted TB while doing his mandatory military service in the Finnish Army and had to have a qurter of one of his lungs removed. Doesn't seemed to have hurt his singing!

This reaction was.... Sick! Truly wonderful. What I love about Wintersun is that it is brutal, harsh, but to contrast that it's also extremely beautiful, but always epic. I want to make music myself, but I don't have to because Jari makes exactly the kind of music I would make if I had his talent. August 30th this year. Mark that in your calendar because the new album "Time II" will be released and it will absolutely blow your mind :) You're extremely lucky that you discovered this band now because I've waited Time II for 13 years now and the wait has been excruciating. I say that because since 2011 they have played one song from that album, the name of the song is "The Way of the Fire" and its magnificence is out of this world. Now we will finally get to hear the studio version with killer production.

Nightwish knows true talent when in public display. They've raided the band twice, with the drummer Kai hahto and the bassist Jukka Koskinen . When I say raided I mean offered lucrative non-exclusive deals, . For Wintersun having two members off on Nightwish activities is no worse than having just one. The singer is phenomenal with only a lung ad a half, truly a remarkable band unjustly not on the charts.

Your initial analysis and deconstruction of this Wintersun song in my opinion was spot on because you a musician yourself amie that you used muscal terms in the analysis overall to describe the sound you were hearing as in your words this was sick and awesome at the same "time" lol. But Amie as far as the information on the band that you wanted from your subcribers the main subcriber myself that i encouraged you to go down the Wintersun rabbit hole which you finally did now let me inform you what you need to know about wintersun. First of all amie and your other subcribers can we give a standing ovation for jari the blonde viking with the silver guitar and founder of wintersun for this masterpiece he is the songwriter composer of the bands songs. And amie you were not prepared for jaris vocals it caught you off guard as it did all of us when wed listen to wintersun for the very first time. In your music terms he uses harsh vocals that you hear in death metal but his brilliance he combines his clean vocals so well together too. And acknowledge the other band members amie they are teemu the guy with the green guitar vocals who now amie plays for Megadeth if you know who the are jukka bass vocals and the human drum machine kai . As far as this song goes you were right they were playing to a click track because if you noticed that the drummer Kai had earphones and a laptop next to him. And amie jari confirmed that time and everything single song that came off the time 1 album each song contained 200 tracks ! Thats sick ! And jari mentioned that the total number of tracks for the entire time 1 album used 1,600 tracks ! That utter madness! And the album took because of that reason took 12 years to produce because of jari perfectionism which many call jaris madness! And i know you liked the folkish guitar sounds in certain parts as you pointed out in your analysis which i know you could play on your guitar which ive told you wintersun uses viking folklore in their music. And amie can we give also a standing ovation for thier audo engineer for mixing 200 tracks for this one song and make it sound so good too. And its ashame the world doesn't know wintersun on how good they really are. You said yourself why have you never heard of this band?? I felt the same way amie about that same reason. And do yourself a favor and go check out wintersuns official channel Wintersun jari to fill you in research of the bands history ok ? And amie you didn't mention it but all three jari jukka teemu use ibenez bass and guitars and teemu of wintersun I believe has a channel to teach you how to play guitar. So as far as the next wintersun suggestion anslyze wintersun sons of winter and stars 1.5 official music video. It was just a limited time only but im sure there still some albums out there. Nuclear blast records confirmed that they will continue production of time 2 in August of this year. Wintersun is a finnish band too (what else). The members are: Mastermind Jari (silver Ibanez), Temu (green Ibanez), Kai Hahto (drums, actually Nightwish) and Jukka Koskinen (actually Nightwish too). This album is from 2012. Their new album "Time two" releases in September. What Jari annou ced in between this new album should be a new masterclass.

Regarding how you didn't know about them, it isn't unusual at all. They aren't that well known in the US. Even Nightwish isn't anywhere near as big there as they should be. (Perhaps that tells us something about how the US music industry works.)
