I can confirm Hamza is stating a pure fact as I've driven an M140i and I have raced a new S3 and left it for dead even in damp conditions. Also it's worth noting that the M140i isn't even a full blown M car and yet it is still running rings around an S3, imagine if BMW made an M1 hatchback that will be an RS3 slayer. I used to love fast Audi hatchbacks but I think BMW is rapidly gaining on and will overtake Audi. The new BMW M5 is already destroying the Audi RS6 performance plus and even the BMW M760i narrowly beat the RS6 Performance plus despite the heavy weight

Most of the tooling investment now written down ,so using capacity to get returns on plant and equipment prior to phasing out the model in 2018/19 ,when the 4pot replacement will be launched. So misleading selling price short lived .

I’ve got an S3, like the 140i just can’t cope with the offset pedals and low seating on the bmw gets my back and legs , frustrating really but the Audi s3 is comfy and better health wise, and going from bmw to audi was a nice change :) but liking my s3 for now have a sport back in java green :)

Was looking at a m140i but decided to go with a 370z Nismo, thought I'd test drive it as I've loved the Z ever since NFSU2, completely fell in love with the Nismo and bought it outright. Things a monster and turns heads everywhere. Love the vids mate, keep em coming

Both around 25k, yes the M140i is much more recent and has a far better interior and is much more economical, but I didn't get excited sitting in it, imo, can't put a price on that.

The 370 looks so much better esp with the Nismo pack, very cool looking car! I own an M140i for the reasons you stated but it doesn't look anywhere near as sporty as your car.

I had a 370Z roadster a few years ago real head turner and did 112K miles in it over four years then part-x for an M235I as could not get an M2 then got a call Nov 2016 saying a cancelled order for an M2 and changed so now have a black DC M2

As a M140i owner and BMW fanatic in general I'm being completely unbiased in saying that a Golf R, A45, RS etc will have no issue in keeping up with one of these and on public roads will have an advantage with the extra grip as the M140i can struggle for traction a lot of the time. However, with all that torque from the 3.0 straight six and rwd, they're a lot of fun to drive.

Oh of course, keeping up is not a problem on the public road, difference is negligible. That will be impacted by a variety of things, driver included. But objectively the M140i is noticeably faster on a straight for sure.

If you want to drift in it , hold the traction control for 3 or 4 second and it will take some awesome corners because the sport plus only take of 15% of the traction

I have an m140i and test drove an s3 to its max as was a consideration as i prefer the looks of the audi. I can hand on heart say the m140i obliterates the s3 out of the water! Having had a torque monster 535d (313) previously i can say the m140i and its 500nm are in a different league to golf r's or s3s. In a rolling start which is what is more useable in the real world for overtaking etc the s3 isnt comparable. The exhast note alone makes the m140i a joy as opposed to 4 cylinder hairdryers with fake quad exhausts

Awesome video bro. Enjoying this style of vlog as well as the more structured review style. You are spot on about the M140i/M240i... Stock golf R, S3 or A45 do not stand a chance. Had an M240i glued to my bumper well into "legal speeds" despite having MTM stage 1'd my S3 FL now which is pushing approx 380bhp. Was nothing in it. Had he had a JB4 tune he would have flown by without a doubt 😅

and79 From experience Pre-Facelift A45 doesn't stand a chance. Facelift A45 a bit closer but m140i still quicker especially mid range upwards.

Great vid mate, got a m140i my self and loooooooooooove it, just popped a K&N filter in it, and induction sound is better, mpgs also better!!(30 to 40 mpgs!!!!!) still undecided on exhaust??? BMW or Milltek???? had 135i before...this is quieter inside than m135 but K&N has upped the noise :) 140i adaptive suspension now siffer than the 135's adaptive....but at last i can put power down....even in the wet :) amazing car, who needs a S3, Golf R etc :)

i own an S3 and raced a 140i yesterday he was absolutely nowhere near me off the line, that 2WD system in the BMW can't put the power down in anything but dry "perfect" road conditions, which we have about 10 of a year in the UK. Quattro system so much better to put power down in UK climate

Snake Plisskin look at the stats to 60 mate, the only reason it feels quicker is because the S3 is a lot more stable with the Quattro system and the 140i is easier to chuck about In corners I'm not saying the 140i is slower but to say it's way quicker isn't true both quick cars. But if you look at what comes standard on a 140i it's embarrassing don't even get cruse control heated seats etc

Mike Banbury M140i is quicker than a standard golf r , s3. I’ve driven all three. If you get the M140i remapped , stage one will push it to around 420bhp. That will be quicker than your remapped s3 👍

These M140s are not to be messed with i got same car as you hamza a 2017 audi s3 Stronic and i went to Santa pod last year and raced a stock 2017 M140i and goto say that bmw pulls like a train i had a slight lead up to about 40mph because of the s3 launch control but dat bmw pulled back hard and by end of quarter mile he was easily 3-4 cars lengths in front of me , my best time was 13.15 seconds with a speed of 107.5mph he must have been in the 12s mark

I have an M135i, i have driven all the performance hatches aside from the RS3. The launch of the R, S3 and A45 is viscious but the BMW has the legs on a roll. Amazing how 300bhp is normal for a performance hatch now 😁

Anyone reading this - which should I go from a FRS Mk2 to a Nardo Grey RS3 or a LBB BMW M2? I think the RS3 lacks road presence, it's narrow at the front, but I love you can tune it to 480bhp with a stage 1 and I like the hatch. BMW I just love the look of, but it's a bit less practical and the N55 doesn't tune so well, but it's so pretty.

I think on every start up it opens the exhaust valve to warm the cat up for 20 or so seconds.......thats what I read anyway not sure how true it is?

Bro, straight pipes channel did a review on the 2017 m240i with M performance exhaust (US market) and the car sounded amazing. So I think there's a difference in the exhaust sound between the 1er and 2er even if you compare like for like ie 140i vs 240i. I think bmw make the 2er sound better. Just my humble opinion though, don't quote me on it!

Ive got a 335d f30 and tbh thats better than all these hot hatches, not only that its quicker than em all, better on fuel, only bad pount is theres no noise. But as an overall package its miles better than a 140i
