I saw a theory that Boxy was the one that attacked Kissy because apparently there was a faint scream that was similar to his in Project Playtime, although I couldn't hear anything other than Kissy's and Poppy's screams

Possibly if he managed to jump very quietly. Bit another commentor theorized it could have been the Nightmare Critters sent by Boxy. As they would be small enough to crawl and jump Missy without making a sound.

Makes more sense if it was the prototype imo, the monster sounded weirdly heavy loud and metalic, it had the upperhand against kissy and it was oddly silent, boxy doesnt make these sorts of noises. Kissy betrayed the prototype and he got revenge.

I think Boxy Boo is the Warden here and the Nightmare Critters are the Guards because there is Too Much Room for just One Monster to Guard Effectively so the Nightmare Citters are probably going to Act as Extra Security

I thought the existance of this space was common knowlage. It was foreshadowed in chapter three in the secret tape with Lief and Catnap. It's expressed through context clues that they are in some kind of holding/containment area for the bigger bodies. When Catnap quips about the prototype freeing them, Lief tells him that he will be allowed to go up to where the children are time to tome but that this is not his home and he will never leave playtime. Further he states the prototype's home is in the labs. Its clear then that they are NOT in the labs AND it is a place below where the orphans are in the factory. It is specifically a place to keep Catnap and the bigger Bodies, which only makes sense since they are not supervised at night. They only come out to serve working purposes to the children's areas during the day. They are also technically completed projects able to interact with children already so they would not be in the lab liek the prototype who is far from a state either useful in working or presentable to the orphans. We also know the labs are on the same level or one much more accessible to the one the kids are on. We know from the secret tape where one irpheon itnerups a scientist taking another for the BB initiative when he should have been sleeping that its very nearby. This makes perfect sense since the prototype got to Home Sweet Home when it attempted an escape through Theo. We also know it reached Catnap and the others to coordinate the Hour of Joy. This means they had to be in a location togther AND it couldn't be abouve the lab since that's where they would start to block off to find him. If instead he went further in, they would not anticipate it, allowing him longer access to plot with the other bodies. I feel there has to be another chapter after this. There will be five in total as this is just the kennel. It would be an anticlimactic space to have the finale occur. I believe the final level will not be lower but higher. You'll have to go to Eliotts old office or something to face off agaisnt the prototype. Perhaps stop it from escaping. It would actually make a lot of sense for it to lure you down there as it attmepta and escape so you get trapped in the prision area with "no way" up as it makes its own bolt for the surface.

Boxy has a page in the chapter 4 arg now, confirming his experiment number and great importance. I think we will learn more about him very soon. The devs realized his popularity and decided to not let him be forgotten.

My theory is that its the smiling critter plushies, like the ones seen in the dogday scene did it. We wouldve heard very loud thumps if it was boxy because in project playtime, look at his steps! it looks like hes stomping the ground every step, though that doesnt mean he cant just sneak up.

Long post warning. It looks like the devs will keep making new chapters with new characters while not using him. This is very unsatisfying for his fans and for the story as a whole. A reason could be that Project could have had his full story ending with his death being explained in the past. Since Project was seemingly cancelled, we will just never learn how he died and it was his chapter. This is probably what most people think. However, not explaining how he died or simply presenting him as dead in the end of the main games is indeed anticlimactic and very lame writing. This is why I and many other fans all hope we’ll finally get to see this monster with his huge potential to be terrifying in a sudden jumpscare. I’m sure the devs are aware of the pressure from the fans. It’s almost impossible to just leave his story a loose end and not ever having him appear. As he was the first successful bbi experiment, he has major importance as the others simply wouldn’t exist without him. Same for characters like Harley, Ludwig and probably even PJ… them just vanishing without a true story is beyond my understanding unless the devs just want to produce new characters without aiming for a decent story. I doubt they would, I still have some faith left. Maybe it’s just all about patience now. If the game has ten chapter and you see 1006 at the end then Boxy pops up as a final defender… yeah it would require endless patience to learn about him, who knows?

I think that at the train sight,,train crash,, the way that is blocked is project playtime and boxy boo is held there by the prototype because if he escapes he would kill the player and I think the letter in the start of the game,,,chapter 1,,. WAS send by the prototype because he wanted us to kill the toys and he will take them so I think that prototype and catnap forced craftycorn eo write the letter and then killed him

if you look at the VHS bron tape you can clearly see the hand that attacked him was a huggy wuggy of some kind not boxy, and all the toys are hostile towards another weve seen Mommy kill bunzo and the mini wuggies, Catnap killed a bunzo doll, a dogday plush was attacked by Babachops, and the new Yaraby character crushed a Poe dplush too, the factory is littered with dead toys after they started eating each other, its not at all uncommon for the toys to be hostile to one another
