According to composer Rebecca Kneubuhl, This Broken Soul represents Spyro's relationship with Ignitus, and how we imagined he would feel having crossed over into Dark Spyro. But she and Gabriel Mann also wanted to create the song from a universal perspective about our own selves. "Everyone has a part of them that doesn't always do the right thing. Sometimes our darker nature takes over, despite our best intentions. Ultimately no one wants to stay there, so we look for guidance and ask for help, and a way out."
@oscarkageson-loe2 жыл бұрын
Definitely how I would view it, and I would’ve used it for other things and here some examples. In episode 3 of Star Wars as you said everyone always has darker intentions and a part of them that always don’t do the right thing. For Anakin he has to look for guidance and the whole reason for him turning was because he wanted to end the war and save Padme even if that meant destroying the Jedi. Obi-Wan also some what does the same thing as he struggles to believe the council is doing the right thing and is also trying to be there for his friend. They relationship is shown through out this film. Another example is Spider-Man. After watching No way home his darkness is revealed and he is left on his own. To me, this represents Spider-Man’s relationship with Iron man as Iron man made him a better person but with him gone, Spider-Man has to turn to himself for guidance eventually he wants to look for a way out and leave even if he has to let go of his dream. Don’t know if you are a marvel or Star Wars fan but I do agree with as I am a big Spyro fan

Hey! Your comment makes me happy and nostalgic too, I just wanted to tell you if you love the Legend of Spyro series that much, I've started a discord server for its community! It's small and empty and pretty barebones at the moment because it just began a day or two ago, but soon I hope to have a bunch of people that love and cherish the game like I do in a small community where we can all enjoy ourselves and live our nostalgia together! If you're interested in joining it's here: discord.gg/rEU9yFZ If you dont want to join that's okay though!

Say what you want about this particular era of Spyro in my honest opinion the legend of Spyro as a series was one of my favorite telling stories of Spyros history and it was consistent across all three games in a real story that isn’t usually seen in Spyro games the music is amazing the story was consistent and I think the game needs a bit more recognition of the good things about this series and not focus on the fact that “the design was changed so therefore it is automatically a terrible game”

Scroll on if you don't want emotional drama (seriously, deep vent ahead), but at seemingly the loneliest point in my life, I find myself coming back to this song. It hits so deep. It's such a natural fit, listening to this song while feeling isolated, alone, and confused. Remembering my mistakes and my regrets. I feel lost, trying to find my way somehow. This song always hit a powerful place in me, and right now it's such a perfect fit for my mental state. I just don't know who I am or what to do anymore. I feel myself slipping more and more to a dark place, feeling the black emotions taking me over. Just feeling...hopelessness. Feeling a sense of impending doom as I feel myself slowly wither away, viewing the world around me and those within it seemingly from another dimension, like some kind of spirit. Yet at the same time, feeling powerful anger and resentment burning within me, hating my current predicament and feeling defiance towards it. Part of me wants to give up, feeling there's nowhere to go and that it's all over, while the other part of me violently rejects everything and wants to lash at it and crush it a fit of burning rage. It's a confusing and painful place to be. I feel myself wanting to fall to my knees in despair and either laugh hysterically or cry, or both as very conflicting emotions that cannot coexist clash. Overall I just feel the overwhelming sense that I'm horribly lost and am trying to find my way again, wandering in the pitch dark, seeking some sort of guidance or light, something this song touches beautifully.

Oh yeah...this comment. This song. Hard to forget, but a particular moment in my life I try to, nonetheless. I do significantly appreciate your words and your attempt to help, more than you will ever know. It's been a strange time in my life, these past few years, and I've dealt with depression pretty badly. There's a lot of factors I won't go into, but in any case, I was at a real low point emotionally when I made the comment. It was a very uncertain and lonely time in my life where I truly felt lost, and felt I had nowhere to go, nothing to exist for. There was a lot of things going through me emotionally at the time, and this particular OST hits extremely hard to me for some reason. In that very dark moment, it spoke to me, and I was compelled to write the comment. This OST has always hit home for me ever since I first heard it, and has always been special to me. But in that really bad moment of mine, it really messed with me inside, and I broke. I can't say I was any better for a time after the comment, I was a wreck for while. Things have improved a lot for me this past year, really these past handful of months specifically. I'm in a significantly more stable state these days, thanks to the help of someone very dear to me. I'm definitely no longer prone to suddenly falling to the purgatory-like state as with before, where I'm not even dead,, but couldn't care either way, and feel like I'm spiritually in another dimension. I do have my moments still, the wounds within me still go quite deep, but they're no longer bleeding the way they were before. I do become depressed from time to time, but it's nothing on the level that it was at the time I made the comment, I assure. Your words are extremely meaningful to me, and I do intensely appreciate your effort. Stranger on the internet or not, you tried to help, and that is worth more than you will ever know. I'm in a much less worrisome state now than I was at the time of the comment, so don't lose too much sleep over it. I may not be perfect, but I'm healing substantially. I do hope things are very well in your own life, that the world treats a kind soul such as yourself with mercy and generosity. You deserve great things, and I wish you joy and peace. Thank you sincerely for your attempt to help, friend. May the ancestors look after you. May they look after us all.

I am doing well-ish these days, thank you for asking. I still forget I made that comment so long ago. I would not say I am "stable" on my own, and it is mostly a close person in my life that keeps me together each day, but nonetheless, I am well because of them. At a point in my life where I'm questioning a lot of things and not sure what to do with myself, frankly there's a lot of uncertainty and lack of direction or true "purpose". But, I am still here day to day, surviving as anybody else. How are you, in turn? It's wonderful to see you must have been listening to this amazing song. Ironically, I've been thinking about playing through TLoS again sometime soon. It's been entirely too long...

This trilogy is really what made Spyro and its characters shine the brightest, it brought emotion with the characters, depth to them. Serious topics like death, abuse. What Cynder had to endure, the pressure on Spyro's shoulders sometimes becoming too much for him too bare. I loved those moments of weakness where he almost gave in to darkness, where he had to pulled out by those close to him. It showed that Spyro is not some immortal creature, he can fail too. He does not have the power too beat the darkness forever, but with Cynder and his friends at his side they may still have shot at a peacefull life. LoS trilogy, you always have a special place in my heart untill my own death and beyond, you were more then just games too me.

I remember the first time I finished this game and this song started. My eyes and ears were glued to the screen, and I felt completely gutted. I remember telling myself that this couldn't be it because Spyro never loses! But he had, and he and Sparx and Cynder were trapped. It completely knocked me flat, but when I saw that cutscene after the credits, I felt hyped to see the story concluded! A year later, Dawn of the Dragon was released, and the rest is history...

Just from hearing this song, it makes one wonder who's soul was the most broken throughout the series. Cynder has gone through so much because of Malefor, and Spyro's relationship with Ignitus was so endearing, it showed how much he's looked up to him like a father figure in his life until his death.

This song, it gives off a somber vibe of Spyro’s first decent into the darkness and the cliffhanger ending of Spyro incasing himself, Cynder and Sparx in a crystal shell to protect themselves from the collapse of the Well of Souls with Spyro too exhausted to fly, leaves you wondering what’s going to happen next.
