This is going to be a growing trend. Many of these older vehicles will never again make a long trip, so this is totally practical. And they’ll be a lot easier to keep around as battery powered. Folks will be able to plug them into they’re own solar panels to keep them topped up for a weekend cruise.

Kind of,,,,,, many builds on a classic vehicle is to reflect on an era. It may be a full restoration, or a restomod. I have done Botha and own several. I want to do an electric build, but maybe a van instead. The powertrain matching to a specific van isn’t really as important or specific as it is the the C10 or Bronco in the video,,,,, I have 2 C10s, just recently picked up another project, and I would not consider putting an electric motor in one. Just not for me. I have a 67 Mustang, same thing, 67 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed manual that is fully stock and original as if it just left the showroom, original 42,000 miles, NO WAY, even my 1981 Vette, nope, or my 1990 C10 454SS with only 40,000 kms (24,000 miles?) nuh uh, 49 Ford F1 with the flathead supercharged V8, h*ll no!! Now if I had a 1990 short box without a motor, I would consider electrifying one, maybe a nice older full size van conversion that’s in great shape. Customize the exterior to look more like an 80s “Boogy Van” and add electric there,,,,,,,. Oh yeah! Like I said, the classic market being electrified will be popular in some areas, but the motor can mean as much as or more than the vehicle it’s in!! Original 426 Hemi Cars,,,,, untouchables, 428 Cobra Jets, my 396 Chevelle, you just won’t mess with that.

Hey tfl. What's your opinion on the manufacturer's making a "hybrid kit". Instead of having everyone go hybrid or electric. There could be kits to install to your current vehicle and make it into a hybrid. Seems more cost effective then a brand new 60k+ vehicle

I recall a few years ago there was someone who had an “electric supercharger” on an LS or Hemi or something. Don’t think it was too popular due to maybe the amount of power it added or how much it cost. Think it was similar in principle to Hemi’s etorque system but I thought more powerful.

I appreciate you fighting the crowds Andre. lol Tough environment to be in for a journalist. As for the idea of converting classics into EV's, not 100% on board with it. Just depends on the vehicle in question. IF it were a luxury sedan that was meant to be quiet, refined and float down the road, sure, I could see that. IF it were a small hatch back that was meant for commuting, sure, why not? But when you get into machines that were meant to be loud, in your face, obnoxious, aggressive with a personality, you are killing it by removing the heart.

Need to send TFL⚡E team on a road trip to these EV conversion custom build shops. This is the future of automobile preservation. More classic cars can be saved from junk yard scrap crushers. Those EV conversions can be better than buying a new ICE vehicle. As the EV motor itself will outlive any new ICE vehicle.. No Doubt, I believe that's why Ford has even taken interest in EV conversion kits. The future is here TFL ⚡E

I just don't understand the point. It's not like it's going to save money or the environment or something, and it's removing any soul and character the vehicle has. And in a classic vehicle, that's the whole point.
@ALMX5DP3 жыл бұрын
The point is to be different and do something that you may like or prefer.

Until you have to refuel. Fuel pumps run on electricity. And if they have solar & storage at their place they can refill at home. When the power went out over here in Texas most of the Tesla drivers had storage or solar + storage and still had lights and heat.
@scotty48543 жыл бұрын
@@IronmanV5 Instead of spending $100,000 on a bronco conversion and another $100,000 on solar panels and battery storage, how about we stop wasting money on unreliable "green" energy sources, so the power doesn't go down in the first place?
@on-demand22893 жыл бұрын
@@IronmanV5 Solar panels are unreliable and will not work in severe storms like what was scene in Texas. Also, storage batteries are expensive and bad for the environment.
@kendrick59093 жыл бұрын
@@IronmanV5 Great, if they had storage systems. However, most EV owners didn't have storage, because they're so expensive. Also, in Texas, many of the oil field workers had diesel auxiliary tanks that could keep them going for upwards of 4,000 miles. What's more, they had diesel generators to keep everything going. So, the oil guys faired the best, while your typical EV owner had it worse than anyone.
@IronmanV53 жыл бұрын
@@on-demand2289 Solar panels work on Mars where it gets a lot worse than anything we see on Earth. We already have recycling set up and being set up for batteries as it is easier that mining them in the first place. But keep making stuff up.
