This BUCK was so CLOSE!

This week we are in Nebraska chasing the rut for whitetails. I have one of the closest encounters of my life on a whitetail.

Levi, a very nice buck. When we as hunters measure success for Rack size we set standards that are so high that it takes away from the pleasure of hunting. A trophy to one may be a 4pt. taken as a first buck or could be a buck from a very high pressure area. The goal is to be successful and enjoy our time in the field or woods. Like my Grandfather told me when I was a young man: " Boy, you ain't gonna get much of a meal out of the horns". Yes, I enjoy shooting bigger mature bucks..I try very diligently to harvest 31/2 years or older...estimated. But at the end of the day, I hunt to enjoy the bounty and the time in the Lords Great outdoors. It's the experience that matters. Because life is nothing more than a culmination of experiences......Live as much as you can.

One thing I’ll say about you dude you’ve shot some great deer but you’re not shy to release an arrow on a smaller rack. Size doesn’t seem to really make much difference to you which is pretty wild considering what you’ve got access too. Don’t mean that in a negative way you obviously just love it either way which is great. Sometimes I wish I didn’t get so stuck in trophy hunting. I shot a 150 this year and just never really even got my heart going. Was never ecstatic with it or anything. Commented this before even watching it just from the thumbnail. You said it pretty well in the video. Congrats. I’m curious to know why you never went down that rabbit hole?
