Its getting close! This week I was able to hang the rear axle, set my driveshaft angles and order up the drivelines from Tom Woods. I can't wait to get this back on the road!
The pivotal manufacturing jack stand dollies have been a huge help in getting this thing moved all over the shop. Go check them out! Made by another squarebody brother with a killer K5 build underway!
Check out my Patreon Account. I post behind the scenes, early uploads, Q and A and more. Help me keep the lights on and buying more shop and camera gear!

Awesome, thank you! I had this discussion with my wife recently, trying to describe what I do when people ask. KZbinr sounds weird, monster truck builder seems even stranger. I figured if I said metal artist it would be nebulous enough to not warrant further explanation. Ha ha

Merrick I’m definitely guessing that Burban won’t ever be able to do burn outs!! That thing is going to be way to big for that Cummins that you put in it!! It won’t ever do 4x4 burn outs on concrete!! Now if you would have put a Chevy motor back in it it might do some burn outs!! If it does 4x4 burn outs on some concrete I’ll definitely go get me a Cummins to put in mine also!!!??? Guess we will see!! Good luck buddy I can’t weight to see you give it a try!! Lol!

Do you have to change the brake booster after going with one ton axles?
@MerricksGarage
@MerricksGarage 2 жыл бұрын
That's a debate I have heard both sides of. In this particular case I swapped to a Hydroboost unit. In the Blazer, I stuck with the 1/2 ton booster and went with a 1 ton resi. Seems to work just fine.

When it's all finished will taking the body off to do work on the frame be a relatively quick/easy thing or is taking the body off only a reasonable thing to do during the build and not during maintenance down the road?

Awesome question. I’m actually looking into ways to do that easily. The hydraulics, braking and cooling are the challenges. I can make physical disconnects for pretty much everything else but having to bleed everything….. Unless I put some valves in…..🤔😉👍🏻

I’ve mentioned this on other videos but I’m just a bit salty you didn’t use a Ford Dana 60 Kingpin because the ring and pinion are stronger than the Dodge/Chevy equivalent (except the knuckles which you can upgrade to Reid racing knuckles anyway) and being a Bronco owner, I wanted to bother you for having Ford parts in your truck. Apparently this is a Dodge and Chevy truck given the Cummins and AAM axle. Sick truck nonetheless and love the videos! Ps. I did a 5 to 8 lug swap on my Bronco using K20 stub shafts, caliper brackets, rotors, calipers, etc. and I’m not ashamed to admit it, lol.
@MerricksGarage
@MerricksGarage 3 жыл бұрын
lol. Ok. So I’m not so much a diehard Chevy guy but I do love the engines Chevy produces and sticking to their guns with the traditional cam in block push rod design gears ago. It’s like the doubled down with the LS and that’s why it’s so killer. That said, I love the raptor and I would expect I will be seeing more of the Broncos in my future so…. Truth be told I matched the front axle in my Blazer for redundancy. And it’s a Chevy axle. American Axle Manufacturing or AAM 😅😁
