It's quite a bummer, because I really like the overall aesthetic. But it is unnecessary big while having zero support for at least a slim 240 AIO, nor allowing for an upside down use. There are better, smaller and cheaper option out there. On a positive note though, it has easy cable management 😅

The 7800X3D is really easy to cool. Even small coolers are fine here. And even the 9800X3D isn't excessive so this doesn't need a 280 rad. The Noctua NH-L12S should do fine with either of those.

The sheen on the anodizing actually isn't really an indicator of quality. It's more an indicator of the style of anodizing, as it would be a soft anodizing. A proper hardcoat anodizing can't really end up that consistent or clean. The struggle to get quality anodizing done in colors is why one of the few that does it right (Geissele Automatics) outright says that their anodized parts of the same color won't necessarily match.
@joshbussard5583
@joshbussard5583 Күн бұрын
Good point! While the sheen does indeed indicate the style of anodizing and the surface prep of the metal, I can promise you Jay has enough experience with anodizing that he can judge quality. :)
@isaac6705
@isaac6705 Күн бұрын
@@joshbussard5583 You can't judge quality without a spec sheet and how it was done chemically... that's kinda the point I'm making. He can judge that it looks nice. Do you have any idea what type of anodizing it is? The thickness? The surface hardness? Antec obviously isn't going to go with Type III hard coat. It's almost definitely type II because that dyes best. But type II is definitionally not a high quality anodizing: it's done because it dyes nicely, not because it actually creates a thick, hard layer on the surface.

@ the fans are already on the bottom. It’s pretty obvious there is no intention to put an AIO down there and this likely isn’t a mass produced case with large amounts of stock on shelves and in storage. Moving the fans requires more of a redesign than a simple extension. Placing them on the top instead of the bottom also means you would need three dust filters instead of one or two (two being the case with the side panel I suggested) unless you used the top as intake. Dust naturally settles on the top as well.

I always think the same. It was already extremely hard to fit two 240 rads into my Jonsbo A4 (one top and one on bottom). I love seeing people showing off more SFF stuff recently. I do wish people gave credit to some of the great boutique options that first came up with or brought these ideas to the public. Stuff like the Formd T1 that was (to my knowledge) the first to bring the adjustable center bar sandwich style, and Ncase M1 / M2 that provide great customization as well. They're amazing cases that I feel like not enough bigger tech youtuber's talk about. I'll grant that it's harder because they aren't just off the shelf, and usually take a week or 2 to arrive, not to mention they're mostly sent flat packed with assembly required, but they're still absolutely top tier options

I do have to acknowledge how good this case looks though! I don't want to come across like I'm disparaging Antec because that's not my goal at all. This build is gorgeous. I do tend to prefer flipped orientation personally with the CPU / mobo side facing me rather than the GPU but that's all personal preference. Either way awesome video Jay, and THANK YOU for recognizing that the SF750 will handle that build. So many people go way overboard with PSU because they think they need it. A strong platinum rated PSU of 750 watts like the SF750 will handle pretty much any modern build just fine, especially if you're willing to tune power settings or undervolt and that like.

This is actually a really cool case both in aesthetics and how it's built, the ability to customize and mod seems like a huge boon. The fan placement limitations, and lack of custom loop support (ish) seem to be the only downsides, but with the amount of mesh you get it seems this'll be fine with good aircoolers and just letting the case breathe. Oh, and not a huge fan of the open back design, seems kind of unfinished because of everything kind of hanging out of the back like that. That said, I'm actually veeery tempted to build a fully aircooled 9800x3D + Radeon setup in this case, simply because of the color scheme. If I hadn't just bought a North XL, and a X670E board, I would definitely be going that route. Great review, Antec is definitely working overtime on their cases!

I think this case would lend itself to CPU's in the 65 watt range like those 9600X chips from AMD. While you might be able to get it working stably with a more powerful CPU most of them are at least 120 watt which would mean that finding an adequate cooler to fit in the case could be an issue. Unfortunately there is no space to fit an AIO so that limits what kind of CPU you could build in one of these cases.

I just moved my SFF build from the Dan LianLi A4 H20 into the NCase M2. Now I'm wishing I would have known this case was coming. I loved the A4 H20 build quality but it wouldn't fit the video card I wanted to use, ultimately. The NCase M2 is pretty good but it seems to scratch easily, and personally I'm not a fan of the flat pack assembly. After having gone through the build, I'd rather have a fully rigid outer frame. Yes it is very dynamic and adaptable to different build configs, but I don't like the fact that all of the pieces are held together with a couple of M3 screws. Until every single side of the chassis has been screwed down the case has a bit of flex to it. This makes it a bit precarious when moving it around during the build. I will definitely check out this new Antec for my next SFF.

A symmetrical MB tray so swapping sides with the fans in either top or bottom, so you could choose what side you want facing the desired direction. The I/O end cap could accommodate an insert that could be legs of lengths and configurations for cable management, cooling and aesthetics or even an extra fan. Unless the I/O end cap is removable (he didn't say if it was or not) then just swap the whole thing for strength.

I dont see what this does better than formd t1, except maybe the strix is the one gpu that does not fit there... With default aircooler. There is just so much space unused/unusable... Also, the bottoms intake fans do little for cpu and fight gpu exhaust.

Love these type of cases, out with the loud screaming RGBBBBBBB cases and in with the discrete small form factor cases. We're not all 16 anymore, ill for sure be getting this case asap.

@thelaughingmanofficial This isn't intended to be a workstation case with an EATX. Lmao I'm on board with this, I don't need the UFO light show in my case.

@@thelaughingmanofficial There's more than enough options available for big ass workstations. Cases that look good aren't made for work stations, the ones that are are just black and simple.

You could MacGyver 2 fans on the top plate as it is now, using either adhesive Velcro or even zip ties or you could hot glue a 3d printed fan shroud assembly which 2 140's could screw into. I really like this case even though SFF is nothing I would ever use. The Red would go great with an AMD build for sure or you could pull the whole case apart and spray that peelable paint over the red in whatever color you like, being able to fully remove it later should you want to. Great review, I might pick this up for my Wife as She want's more room on her desk, this is right up her alley.

Personally think it would be great to get some of that “future modularity” in the form of 3.5” drive cages. Maybe fit something like an Intel arc a310 and as many drives as possible. Looks like it could do at least 3-4 drives. Would be a nice little mini-NAS / media centre.

Make that thing upside down and set the fans as exhaust. The gpu and CPU cooler will get the air from side mesh and hot air will be forced out at the top. Much better airstream

AVENTURINE is the name of the Red Color Inside. Aventurine Red, for example, can be found as a Paint on the BMW or it can also be found in Nature as Crystal/Quartz. He is said to be able to Create/Represent "Fearlessness and confident Self-Confidence."

it would be cool to have the mobo upside down and the gpu fans pointed toward the top of the case by pushing the spine all the way to one side. this could also allow for bigger cpu coolers or possibly a different layout to put a rad up there on the top. i like the red interior but i think the M2 has more layout options.

Talking about the expandability made me think of the old Cooler Master HAF case that was kind of like a HAF 932 with a top chamber added to it. I want to say the chamber was even removable. I'm not 100% sure on that though.

"Man, I wish we could mount it like this though..." If you can think it... you can print it. Whip up a stand that's a decent height off the surface to allow cables to be plugged in yet not too sharp a bend at the table, and have a hole to run them out one side. If I had that case and had the right hardware to build in it (current PC is far from SFF)...... I'd totally do it, even if I had to print said stand in two separate parts. Then a 280mm AIO would be easily possible for the CPU.

Current have a Phanteks Shift 2 ITX case - basically for the vertical orientation - Like the case but cooling is S&*t. If Antec releases a mod to allow 1M case to be oriented vertically - would buy it in a heartbeat.

I would love to see the dividing panel in the middle to be slightly lower to allow two low profile exhaust fans. As it is now, there is enough space in the top section of the case to fit fans but the divider is just too high. Two case fans for a SFF build just not enough air flow.

Surely those bottom fans should be exhaust?! That would give negative pressure and help the gpu and cpu access cool air and the gpu exhaust out the bottom (no hot air doesn't rise in a pc case). Bottom intake is not best i think especially as the gpu exhaust will compete with the bottom fan intakes.

I am still of the opinion that Jay needs to do a build in the Antec Cannon. It really would be a perfect chassis for a Black Ice or Nebula revival build!
