Sorry folks, maybe I was t clear enough in this video - the problem is DEFINITELY in his hoof - the thermal imaging camera showed an increased temperature in his inner claw, that’s why I compared his other front claws (on the opposite foot) with the one in question, I.e. to show that his front right hoof (the sore on) had a higher temperature than his front left. The increased temperature indicates increased blood flow because of inflammation - which is what’s causing the pain he’s feeling. All of the above is why I didn’t scan over his knees/legs/hips - there was no need, because the issue was pin pointed by the obvious higher temperature. I hope this makes it clearer?
@davidbeppler30324 ай бұрын
Dumb question, why not just drill a hole and find the inflammation? You know about where it is.

Sometimes even if you can't help heal the problem, eliminating the other possibilities can either direct others to the right solution or at least eliminate unnecessary and ineffective methods beforehand. Saving this bull and the farmer from unnecessary treatment both prevents further stress on an already unhappy bull and saves the farmer money that can be put to use actually helping the cows. The bull is well cared for and you mentioned that the blocks were at least helping some. It may not be a happy solution, but it is at least a more positive one than nothing.

As an infrared thermographer it’s nice to see the kit of my trade being used to help animals. You really need to find the emissivity of the hoof material and input that into the camera to get accurate results. If you are desperate and if the hoof material is allowing put electricians black tape on the surface you are scanning, good quality electricians black tape is an almost perfect infrared emitter and you will get a better idea of the actual temperature you are looking at. Hope the bull recovers. What I am seeing from your imager screen is reflected light as you move the imager slightly not a true temperature picture of the hoof.

Also, moving the camera to slightly different angles might reveal something hidden. Hopefully, this helps.
