Also a little history on why this camera reached such popularity in both the Hobbyist and Professional group of Photographers.

UPDATE: - Prices for a used X100V on EBAY US went from $1,900 to $2,200 😮🤬 - Some Canadian bought the $3,638 X100V from Amazon 😭

@Eddie Orr a) ebay has em used for like 6-700$. B) you say it's out of stock right in your title. Kinda strange I need to point these things out to you. But anyway there are the two lies. Im sure if I watched the vid again (you're welcome) I'd find a bunch more. Clickbait is such a scummy thing to do. Just put more effort into your work. Taking the easy out and making a piece based on half truths to fit your narrative (you must be a republican 😉) isn't journalism, it's showing ppl instead of putting the effort in to just be honest (it's super hard, I know) all you care about is trying to string ppl along for 15 minutes or whatever. You do you. Integrity is a thing. Remember that.

I blame two things: influencers hyping the camera and the fact that everyone is retro crazed and want the look of film without the hassle of actual film (they think it’s a hassle). Same reason why you can still pick up a good SLR for a reasonable price but all the 35mm point and shoots are inflated. It’s not just portability, it’s ease of use and the ability to not have to think about settings.

I can't shoot film anymore. I mean colour negatives and positive film, because prices are to high for me. that's why I choose bw Fomapan or digital.

I bought a Fujifilm X100F in December 2019 after much deliberation about a new digital camera. I bought it for an easy to carry handy 'travel camera' and it excels at that. And yes, it resembles a classic film rangefinder camera and has a quality feel to it..very few plastic bits on it. The X100V came out a few months after I bought the X100F and I compared the upgrades and for my purposes felt I didn't need to upgrade to the X100V model. Now with the availability issues and exorbitant price increases for the X100V and used X100F's; I'm glad I grabbed my X100F when I did. Very happy with it.

So is X100F. I have the F and I don't miss the X100V that I sold before the pandemic. I purchased the X100F used almost un-used for $580 with a lot of other accessories with it. Note: Sold my X-100V months before I bought the X100F for $950, 'coz I put a small dent on it on the top side corner, but no regrets, lol.

I bought a black one in March 2022. I'd been looking at the X100 series for many years but the weather-sealing and new lens finally swung it. I always thought that the previous models would achieve "classic camera" status but the V definitely will, especially following on from all the demand and shortages. I take it everywhere and love the results from it. I use Classic-Neg or my own B&W simulation, but mostly edit the RAW files. I love it. I think my son may inherit it.

I got it and sold it after a month and upgraded to an xpro 3. The sensor is the same and has the hybrid vf. Now I can use voigtlander glass on it or I could slap the 27mm pancake from fuji and it's practically the same super compact form. I got it for much less than the x100v, last year.

The 27mm has such a terrible auto focus. It's worse than my Nikon f4 😂😂 and that's a 30 year old camera 😂😂

I want one so bad but decided to wait. Imagine the 40mp xt5 or xh2 camera sensor in it, maybe they will even add ibis this time. Maybe it will be 6-8k video. To be fair this camera has been out for a while, people have definitely had plenty of time to buy one before now. I think some canon and Sony KZbinrs started hyping it as a nice travel camera lately too, so it’s popular outside of just the fuji ecosystem

In my country Malaysia used to be around usd 1400 (with additional battery and cheap case offer) now it is about usd 1700. Managed to get mine with the usd 1400

X100V is great but I don't get it - X Pro 3 and XE4 (27mm pancake) could do the job. One does not have to spend $2k for X100V

Some theories that I have. The XE4 was released a year too late compared to X100V (February 2021) The X-Pro 3 was released late October 2019 and people were introduced early to the Sony a6400 January 2019. I think it was all about timing of release dates.

@@EddieOrr I feel it is also about the fixed lens. Some people LIKE the restrictions. Even if another camera is close but offers lens mounting, I don't think people will like it as much. The fact you have one lens and one lens only, the simplicity and the restriction feels very 'analog'.

The X100V es replicating the 70s Fujifilm cameras, the Fujicas. Same design, same look. Back in the 70s there was one fixed lens cameras already for those who are just looking for that. So the comparison with the XE4 makes no sense. Besides the X100V is a leaf shutter camera, weather sealed and has an ND filter. Neither the Pro3 or XE4 are leaf shutter cameras.
