Love this! So happy to see this becoming a multiple unit item. I wish you all the luck with the endeavor. Wish I was in a position to store and care for something like this.

Great job! You should do an attached drop down brace for the air conditioner cover. Make a notch for it to go into on the trailer. That way its hidden when closed and you cant lose it

If you use longer inverter wire be sure to use a proper fuse or circuit breaker close to the battery source. Route the longer wire so it in safe place, where nails screw etc are unlikely to damage the wires. Maybe your company is the next Airstream in it's infancy. Love your builds.

I'm shocked that rocket camper video hasn't done well. I thought it was great to see a creative build.

@@mikekrabal I think it didn’t do well due to it being an early video as well as its extreme design. Still way cool!
@Kumar-i8s3r13 сағат бұрын
It's a great design and very creative, but it might only attract viewers with kids. The rocket camper doesn't match everyone's taste. The other designs give a cozy cabin in the woods vibe.

Awesome! I wonder what a heat pump weighs... Heating and cooling in one...

Short answer is, too much. There is some progress towards micro heat pumps, but nothing yet...

A like your campers, Mike, and I don’t think the price is unreasonable considering the amount of work you put into them. Just a couple of suggestions for your web site. You may want to add the weight of the camper, so people know what kind of tow vehicle they need. Also, your location would be useful. Just the State (assuming you’re in the USA) would help. Cheers!

Those are great tips for the website! Thank you. I am not so tech savvy when it comes the website stuff. I've been slowly working on it for about three weeks. The help is greatly appreciated! I'll update it now.

Diaclaimer: Where is the data plate? The vast majority of states in the US require data plates for trailers (the flat beds should have their own showing specs and load requirements) yet when you convert them to campers, an additional data plate is required illistrating dimensions and combined weight/load as well as what weight/load is available in regards to how much more weight the trailer (flatbed) can hold. Additional Data plates can be a sticker/plate/etc. that is placed on the trailer or camper conversion. In my state, you cant sell or buy a conversion camper/trailer without it having said data plate. Check with your local dmv or county regulators office to see if your state requires the same.
@mikekrabalКүн бұрын
You are 100% correct on that plate. That is, if they were to be sold from a manufacturer. However, in this case, they will be sold under just me. Just a guy with two 'homebuilt' trailers in his garage. These aren't registered or titled under a company. They likely would've been if I could find an insurance company to offer me insurance. Nobody would, so I was forced to do it this way. I did look into those plates you mentioned and manufactures who 'alter' trailers, as I have here for example, do need those plates attached. I have also registered as an alterer, but the insurance companies still don't care. I was planning to do your way. Now, I'm just going to share with the owners the info they need regarding weights and such. How much to load and all that. I'll give them a printout or something. Here, in West Virginia, it's been very easy to register these types of campers. And I have sold two that went to Virginia and Maryland and they didn't have any problems getting registered. I wonder what state your in? Thanks for watching and for the helpful info!

We collect campers but now that we r retired we R not buying anymore. I would have been a buyer 20 years ago though. We love it.
@m.gardner6173Күн бұрын
have you considered a window mount heat pump instead of just an AC? I would also recommend you look into including solar panels into the roof and base or upgraded unit.
@mikekrabalКүн бұрын
I have not considered that yet. I will look at them and weigh their features. I don't know much about them, if I'm being honest. Thank you for bringing it to my awarness and thanks for watching.
@m.gardner6173Күн бұрын
@@mikekrabal the window style heat pumps will be basically the same as your current unit but offer heating too at an additional cost naturally. Solar panels: well, would add about $100 per panel. Could be the less efficient thin “flexible” style for less weight and can glue down with stiff but flexible silicone. Or something similar. I believe you can get 300 watts of 12v up there. This would increase camping flexibility and value in your price point with little additional cost snd labor. In my opinion anyway ;)
@mikekrabal23 сағат бұрын
I haven't heard of anyone installing solar that way, but if they are doing it like that these days, I'd entertain the idea. I really don't want to put any holes in the roof. Lots of folks have inquired about solar and I always feel like I'm letting them down when I tell them I won't put it on the roof yet. Good to know there's another way. Thank you for the additional help with the window heat pump, too.
@m.gardner617323 сағат бұрын
@ there are many videos about flexible solar installation on RV’s without holes now. I’m sure you can find some that include later video reviews on how it turned out. Just make sure it is serviceable in some way. Like cutting the silicone or sealant with a utility knife or something. (My advice, like always, is worth what you Paid for it. confirm it yourself 😂)

How about a mini split, AC and Heat?

I think those are great, but they are huge for such a small camper. I am afraid I wouldn't know where to put it. But I do hope to try one in a future build if I ever build a larger camper. Thanks for watching!

The main reason your inverter should be close to your batteries, is because heavy Guage wiring is expensive. If you don't mind paying the copper cost, put it as far as you want. I'm an electrician by the way.
@mikekrabalКүн бұрын
That's awesome to hear that from an electrician. I really went back and forth on it and would've gladly paid the extra for more wire. If one of the buyers wants it moved, I'll gladly do it for them. Thanks for the help and for watching, my friend!

What is your website????? Do we all have to sleuth it? It should be posted in your channel description, in the video description, as a pinned comment, as a stamp throughout your entire video. Buddy, I'm not watching through the whole video to see if you happen to have it in the video somewhere. Thumbs down for not bothering to put your website - where you make SALES - where people can easily find it. Makes me wonder what other obvious things you forgot.
@mikekrabalКүн бұрын
I didn't forget. As it's just me building, and one build takes four months, I am not truly seeking sales that hard. It would be too overwhelming trying to keep up. I mainly built these so the subscribers can have an opportunity to own one. They have expressed that to me hundreds of times. They come first. You may disagree, but I purposely put the website name near the end so that folks who weren't truly interested would have clicked off by then. If I sell them, great. If I don't that's fine, too. They will be for rent for weekend camps. I'm not too concerned either way. There's no reason to be disrespectful. I'm trying to do a nice thing here.
@debbielewis6479Күн бұрын
@mikekrabal I answered him with your website, but deleted my response after I saw your comment. I agree with you, there's no need for that person to be disrespectful. 🙂
@mikekrabalКүн бұрын
Thanks, my friend. I likely wouldn't build that fella a camper anyway. He would be too tough to please haha. I may, however, put the website in the description. That still takes a bit of extra interest to find. I only want to build these for decent folks who truly want one and will take care of it.
