In the summer of 1970, I slept in the parking lot at Stonehenge, and in the morning the guard let me in for some beautiful sunrise photos of Stonehenge.

When we visited Stonehenge, an art photographer whose signature was a lady’s dress form was working there. Imagine our amusement as we watched him pose his model and snapped “her” photo as he wheeled her around the site! You scored a magnificent campsite! Wow! I loved the sleeping “Like a rock!” Comment. 🤣 As always a great video. Thanks for taking me along!

I was there at Stonehenge as very small kid with my parents. It must have been in the late 60's. I still can remember that were walking between the stones.

The Drove is one of my absolute favourite UK parkups 🥰I’m so glad you guys got to experience and appreciate it. I always park up the other end next to the cirsus burial mounds, away from the commercial craziness - but the whole area is amazing. I’m humbled every time I visit ❤️

Yet another cool video. Who would have thunk that you could sleep so close to stone henge. BTW, whenever Buddy greets if we are not right near him for say 5 minutes, he greets us with a toy in his mouth. I love it.

All I can remember is that we needed to take a train to Stonehenge. Fenced, restrictions etc. Apparently prior, the stones were messed with & stolen.

We went to Stonehenge when I was a child in 1969. Now only were we able to go right up there, but my dad took film of me and my siblings trying to wash off the graffiti from it!

How were you able to shop at the PX? I'm veteran who was injured twice during my time in the service and I cannot even get on base without a CAC ID card much less shop at the PX.

We met an American who works on the base and we got visitor passes.

Did you know Stonehenge is not a henge? It does not fit the now accepted description of a henge, seriously. Thank Cecil Chubb for donating Stonehenge to the nation and restricted what they can charge.

@@outliersoverland are you planning on visiting any of the bigger cities?
@outliersoverland2 жыл бұрын
Probably not right now. Bigger cities are challenging in our camper so we have to search for the right campground near a train or bus stop. I don’t handle large population centers well, there’s just too many people and too many cars.

I'm still surprised that you were able to shop in the PX when you read the following official policy; "Veterans and caregivers with new commissary and exchange access next year can bring a guest while shopping, a Department of Defense spokeswoman confirmed Thursday in an email. While base entry for the newly eligible veterans on Jan. 1 is limited to those with a Department of Veterans' health insurance identification card or to caregivers with a VA letter, guests will be able to accompany them on base as long as they have official identification. Acceptable forms include the REAL ID-compliant driver's license and U.S. passport, among others. The guests, who can be a spouse or child, will have to enter through the base visitor control center and pass a standard security check, which includes criminal history and a terrorism screening. Guests will have to be with their sponsors at all times, and they cannot make any purchases."

We just added a few of our nostalgic American purchases to our friend’s shopping cart.
