Not only Tesla denies service or parts to their customers. Toyota does it too. I paid for a hundred thousand miles extended warranty and Toyota never honor this transaction they sent me a letter stating that they will not provide me service anymore and my car only had 82,000 miles plus so I recommend not to buy extended service at any dealer cause they’re only looking at your pocket. Tell me about it. I went to the Petaluma Toyota dealer in California for my ‘18 Camrys clunking/hesitating transmission. They told me they didn’t find anything but that it was “normal”. However, I got in and looked at dash cam footage and the tech said “oh they’re talking about this hesitation, they all do that”. Charged me $210, never again! Yep. And when the power goes out due to a natural disaster (earthquake, hurricane, etc) and power is going to be out for a few weeks, anyone with an electric car is gonna be hurting. One thing I learned when living in Florida is that when a storm is coming, you fill some empty gas cans so you have fuel. Electric cars are a niche product which will never be practical for universal use.

Seattle was in the news last week because the majority of charging locations there are non-functional. Some of them are just broken but most of them are down because people keep steeling the copper wiring. And Seattle isn't alone. There similar news stories every week about a different part of the country experiencing similar issues with charging locations. If you live in an area where charging isn't an issue, great. But it's foolish to assume that the whole world looks exactly like the view from your front door.
@comradelieutenant

@@Rusty_Shackleford099 for Florida it is very practical: you just use your solar panels which run your pool to charge your Tesla, while everybody else is sitting in long lines at gas stations. It is always warm, your battery capacity never diminished due to cold, you never waste your charge to heat your car and seats. If you don't need to go anywhere, you can tap your battery for electricity, and use the battery to absorb solar power when it has no use. EV, like F-150 Lightning is even more useful, and designed around these ideas. The only thing I am not sure about, is it's performance at boat ramp: if lithium meets water, ouch...

It's all part of the plan for us to buy electric. People are keeping vehicles longer because of the insane cost of newer vehicles and all of the newer stuff has become less reliable and harder to fix. If it's not proprietary that only a dealer can access. They don't even know what batteries or plug they are going to use and that's if the charger works and all the while we're all paying the car company's with taxpayer money to buy all the electric until the power goes out and voltage spikes and Don't forget global warming and more severe storms and more lightning strikes and flooding. What I don't get is the "Full Synthetic" schtick. Oil not only lubricates, but it also collects debris from friction and unburnt fuel etc. When oil is saturated with contaminants it no longer is lubricating the engine as intended. So how does a full synthetic oil capture and hold more particulates than standard oil?

Oil get dirty, still lubricates.
@Yophillips3272
@Yophillips3272 Ай бұрын
It's not about it being dirty. It's really not that complicated you get a can of grease there's the High Temp kind and then the cheaper standard grease. That's the difference it's better Before it gets dirty and it lasts longer. If the oil is dirty and burnt you need to change it either way. But you use the better kind if you want to get more time out of it. The oil filter is what filters oil otherwise they wouldn't even use filters, your acting like the oil attracting dirt and carbon is good I guess in terms of cleaning it is but that's not the main goal.
@kevinmaas9537
@kevinmaas9537 Ай бұрын
You are CORRECT ! It doesn't ! As you know, when it's dirty oil, it's time to change it, around 3,ooo miles or so, give or take up to maybe as much as 4,500 miles, no more. Due to the operating characteristics of the engine, that's what determines oil change intervals.

Service and parts was the primary reason I decided to sell my Model 3. I was able to overlook the shoddy quality control and potential long term viability (or lack thereof), but the fact that the closest service center was 30 miles away and I could only order parts through them was a deal breaker for me. Haven't had a problem in 5 years with my Tesla Model 3 Performance getting it serviced. Very reliable. My Tesla has just a few less moving parts compared to an ICE vehicle. No transmission, no motor oil, no antifreeze , no belts, no starter, no ignition system, no exhaust system, no water pump, no radiator. Just 2 induction motors that are very reliable and efficient. So it's hard to compare with the engine in your internal combustion vehicle. At 16 cents a kWH at home you get a range 4 miles that's 40 miles for $1.60

@@mrgarrison3516 nope. The coolant has no pressure and no heat, those are the things that break down the glycol and components. The coolant simply circulates around like on a cpu.
