Today we're looking at a custom VTOL VR mission made by Shamebird: Kill Box. It is an incredibly immersive mission complete with voice acting and randomly selected missions littered throughout the map! And the F/A-26B Wasp (aka bomb truck) is the perfect aircraft for the job!

It seems a lot of people didn't like the intro's audio mixing. How do you feel about it? Was there too much going on at once? Did it feel too stressful to watch? Or did you actually like it? I'm curious to get your feedback! Edit: Also, if you're willing to part ways with even more of your time, I made a slightly different audio edit here. Audio mixing was great! Really added to the frantic feeling of the mission within your intro!

I was a bit confused at first and just hoped that the audio dub of the mission won't be chaotic like that all the time :D

I like the original intro more, the only negative thing I would say is that when you are talking at 0:08 - 0:15 I couldn't understand what you were saying and that was confusing but otherwise the frantic and chaotic atmosphere it created was great.

I started to think that VTOL got away. It looked like it was starting to move forward and got absolutely smoked by that bomb lmfao

Lol I was so jazzed that it hit. There's an old Strike Eagle story about its first and only air to air kill being on a VTOL aircraft (Mi-24 Hind) with a GBU-10. This wasn't exactly that scenario, but it was close enough!

It was popping flares and I'm sitting here like, "Yeeeaahh, that's not going to help." That thing would have been nothing but shreds of aluminum and a fine red mist after that bomb hit it. LOL!

Killbox is one of the most popular player maps, because of how awesome and replayable it is.

Also because it's one of the few missions that has no radar AA (apart from fairly avoidable AA if you get the HVT mission) which is what most new players struggle with. It's an awesome mission and slightly different each run

The worst part about Kill Box is that the creator lost the OG files so he can't update it ever again. It's such a shame because I'd absolutely froth seeing an updated version where you could play 2 player co-op or something, either in a T-55 or the EF-24G, or hell just two separate jets.

This mission looks so sick, gotta try it out when I get a chance. Quick note for reference: In the EQUIP MFD page, you can set your GPS bombs from Manual to Auto targeting. This will cause them to automatically cycle your selected GPS group to the next waypoint, so you don't have to manually select them one-by-one. You can just pull the trigger and ripple them off, and they'll cycle through the list for you. (Just know that each type of bomb, i.e. gbu38, 39, etc. has to be set to Auto individually. You can also set them to dumb targeting too, if need be.)

A classic to me. This is the first VTOL mission I flew waaay back lol. Would be interesting to see this in some of the other aircraft, but the 26 does it perfectly with the massive payload.

pro tip: use PIP mode on the tgp for more rocket accuracy than that god awful massive circle, and faster target acquisition

Reminds me of that famous story of the only ever F-15 strike eagle a2a kill. Same weapon, same circumstance, only it was a helicopter that was taking off and not a VTOL.

You can set gps bombs to auto select the next gps point in the list when you pickle

Thanks for that recommendation! I honestly have to say, even though I bought it long ago, I've never played VTOL... I'm still playing DCS (now in VR) as well as retro flight sims. Quick question though: why didn't the MAVs kill the boats?

I'm pretty sure they did, but there was just more boats than I thought. Either that or the boats phased through the terrain to avoid the mavericks

I have actually. I played it a long time ago, but it was mostly to just try out my brand new (at the time) Oculus Rift CV1. I never really got into it because I didn't understand the silver lions, golden lions, or whatever the heck they're all called. That said, I have been meaning to give it a proper go. Maybe I'll do a "DCS player tries War Thunder for the first time" style video

@6:06 I'm pretty sure that guy doesn't know what Lima Charlie means and is just repeating it out of habit. Poor guy probably says "You too" when the ticket lady at the theater tells him to enjoy his movie.
