Because he was carrying a blade over 3 inches without a valid reason and that was fixed or locked into a dagar position knives are allowed upto 3 inches and without a lockable or fixd position blade aka a pocket knife... anything over 3 inches and fixed or lockable has to have valid reason as its intended use aka a letter opener a fishing blade a box cutter a graft knife he carried a dagger or sword with a fixed or locked blade over 3 inches without a reason

How absurd though safety should be a priority it is still pretty silly and the punishment definitely does not fit the crime and no fan of anything would use something their a fan of to do something like that heck I wouldn't even do something like use it to butter something on a camping trip as to not dirty it let alone something bad so yeah that is such a silly situation but I do see both sides of the picture and might keep it in a pocket of something and out of sight out of mind or it looked like it had a string loop so could even use it as a decoration as far as onlooker would know it's just a decoration

If you think a 6" long blade that is 0.3 inches wide and has a handle as thick as a pencil is a weapon, you have really lax standards on what constitutes a weapon. If you tried to stab someone with that, you'd have a pretty rough time. You wouldn't even be able to grip the handle properly.

To be fair, yes, Americans are allowed to carry arms in many places. Open carry even. Concealed carry sometimes (that is, often with certain provisions). We are not allowed to brandish those weapons, however. Which, in many jurisdictions means anything other than in a hosteler, or slung across your back. Drawn, or even down ready positions . is often not acceptable. It varies from state to state. And yes, even our bladed weapons have at least some rules. He likely would have been in technical violation in many places even here, though it may not have been enforced for a freakin replica if it weren't sharped. It depends on whether there was a Karen on the scene, probably and how much the given officer in the field was willing to impress said Karen.
