@@zosazsatara5889 Women being shorter and lighter than men doesn't make them faster, this aint a video game. Leg length and muscle density play into run speed, and stamina is a decisive factor in all sports. Don't discount the genetic factors across all human existence, as men were encouraged by ALL factors to be stronger, faster, larger, and physically capable than other men. Most societies didn't even allow women to participate in physical competitions, let alone encourage them. If two teams had a mix of men and women, it would just lower the total/average performance. A total all-star could make the difference, same as some major misplays and fumbles. Your point isn't wrong, it just misses the point. A sports team wants the absolute greatest, we would have to introduce quotas or some other heavy-handed non-solution. It's not fair, which is why we separate the competition. Our best solution isn't very nice, but this is an imperfect world. Also, safety remains an important topic in sports, so God help anyone trying to put women in a full-contact sports situation. They just have more brittle bones and softer skin. They would be brutalized far more than male athletes, BY male athletes. No one wants that on their conscience or on TV. Women's sports leagues are to protect them AND men in physical contest. No one is against mutual competition in bowling, chess, NASCAR, golf, tennis, target shooting, esports, singing, dance, or acrobatics. What remains separated is for a good reason.

I would like Hassan and Adam to give me one example each of an issue that they were progressive on but then subsequently moved to the right on. I bet neither of them can name even a single case where that has happened. This happens so often with progressives. They so often accuse conservatives of being closed-minded, yet they themselves almost never move to the right on any issue at all. In fact, if you just look at societal trends statistically, that alone proves that conservatives are actually the more open minded and willing to move on issues. Take the gay marriage issue for example. 12 years ago, almost all right-wing politicians and voters were strongly against gay marriage and actively campaigned/voted with that issue in mind. Today, the Republican candidate for president right now is pro-gay, pro-gay marriage, and almost no electable right-wing politician anywhere in the west has any intention or expressed desire to make gay marriage illegal again, and most right-wing voters agree it's a settled issue and we just need to take accept it and move on. On the other hand, the left have only gotten more and more progressive on almost every issue since the 1950s.

I feel like the being stubborn and refusing to change your opinions on something is far more important when you have someone like joe rogan who entertains covid conspiracies, supporting weirdo's who should prolly never see the light of day, and being so confidently wrong on something, such as the cat litter in schools controversy and attributing quotes to joe biden that were actually said by trump, such as the airports during the civil war comment. also for gay marriage, the main reason that its it not longer a widely supported right wing position, especially by those going for president such as trump, is because its no longer popular. if a politician vying for power wanted to go against gay marriage, they would be fought by the general public far more than accepted by the public. And I realize this is a very controversial subject but the goal post against gay people and gay marriage has largely been moved towards trans people. many of the same arguments that were made towards gay people, such as them all being groomers, violent, and against god, have all been moved towards trans people with no evidence to support that assertion other than "some trans people have done fucked up things". regardless of you support or don't support trans people those are just bad arguments. also saying that conservatives are more willing to move on issues just because they allowed gay marriage to happen is just not a good argument. And finally if you have any specific instances of people on the left not moving right on issues I would love to tell you why they wont if I am knowledgeable enough

Hol up, if Conover's argument is that it's unfair for women bc men/women's bodies are better at different things, he should agree on the importance that trans athletes have advantages/disadvantages based on their body... right?
@Meun5 ай бұрын
His explanation is just: The rules are set up by committees full of people. We as people can change the rules if we wanted to so that they're more inclusive. I have 0 clue how you'd change sports like Soccer or Football as an example to be more inclusive. Also the point of "men rule the world so sports were made for them more" while I get the idea behind it, I don't agree with it since most sports usually just came about from us messing around or doing daily activities, men do have a physical advantage over women due to how testosterone levels boost muscle growth and as such men develop stronger muscles for movement than women. Hard to mandate a rule that makes things equal.

When I watched this on Joe Rogan, Adam was VERY passionate about the differences in men and women's sports. And then he says "Men's gymnastics, the men are good at the ring holding thing and women's gymnastics, the women are good at... at... at... the bar shit." You mean the balance beam? I know he's trying to remember the name of it, and it's shipping his mind, and he's already under pressure because he's falling apart at the seams... but I'm not a big sports guy, and I know what is called because I took Pys Ed in high school. Adam looks like the kind of guy that had a doctor write him a note to get out of Phys Ed class all of high school, so he went to study hall and was takes with writing a 5 page paper on the history of paint drying. Saying "bar shit" just sounded so ingenious like he couldn't care less about women's sports. Too be fair, he couldn't care less about sports in general, but he gives all the shits in the world about trans sports. Just say "the bar thing". Not "that bar shits". Even gymnastics where it's just you performing, no one is there to push you over, you just get a score based on how well you do, is STILL separated into men's and women's because we have different bodies! Even sports like golf and bowling have men's and women's categories. In bowling you can have team bowling with men and women on the same team. But individual bowling is men's and women's. Even sports like boxing and UFC, they not only separate men and women, but separate men and women farther down into individual weight categories, because a man that's 250lb fighting a man that's 150lb is going to sweep the floor with almost no effort. BECAUSE THEIR BODIES ARE DIFFERENT. Why even "transition" in the first place if the thing you want to become is the same as the thing that you are? Have a separate trans class in sports if you're so passionate about it. And then you'll have to separate it into "trans men" and "trans women" divisions after all the trans men are getting their asses beat by the trans women. (Imagine that! Our bodies are different!) But it will have the lowest viewership in sports history and be canceled in less than 4 years, and then you can rant online on how the whole world is transphobic after you finally got the thing you wanted.

I think what he was trying to say is that because humans created all sport, we could make specific sports that can be played equally well by both males and females... the problem is that we didn't make sports based on equality of play, we made them based on entertainment and the joy that comes from playing them. Some are just generally more entertaining to watch than others and to change that retroactively at this point would be stupid. Removing entertainment (the point of sport) for equality of the sexes where it wouldn't even be needed (since again it's entertainment) would just upset most if not all involved. All in all a poorly voiced L take to begin with. Edit: also for playing sport, an equal one would be something with minimal physicality and more aerobics/flexibility, I don't even know if it'd actually be possible but even if it was no one would care for it
@animeisbadngl5 ай бұрын
"that can be played equally well by both males and females" the problem is just that its not possible lol in all sports where you have to go up against someone and where someone can prevent you from doing something, like basketball, men will be stronger and better, thats just life. i think that equality isn't men and women being able to play against eachother, imo thats just being unfair, equality would be that women and men can both play sports and have their own, which is what we currently have

For all it's faults, I really love Adam Ruins Everything. I love the tongue and cheek approach to being annoyingly cynical. . . The whole point of the show being that Adam is everyone's least favorite kind of person, but still, destroying beautiful illusions with crude and horrible facts. I absolutely love that. The part where the show really falls apart is when they try to get emotional and serious. . .That undercuts the comedy, the premise and the authenticity. Having actors stage empathetic emotions and Adam looking like he's truly sad about some topic completely obliterates any objectivity and reveals the shows biases. It's in total contrast of just spitting naked facts when suddenly you're trying to push the audience to "feel" something about those facts. . . That my friends is propaganda, and that's what really ruined the show.

I think Adam didn't realize is that him and Joe were on the same level playing field, because when Joe wants to bring up something that he needed a source for or wants to show someone, he'd ask Jamie to bring it up. But I don't think Adam knew he could have also asked Jamie to bring up research related to what he was talking about.
