I found the two cats I’m cat sitting playing with one the other day. I almost panicked and am proud of myself that ended up keeping my cool, even though it was SUPER fast! I shooed the cats away (that WAS challenging lol), then I caught it and put it outside, waaay away outside, lol.

This reminds me of when a centipede sneaked into my house because somebody accidentally left the back door open, and I was sitting on the floor watching a movie. I look down at my hand and see a centipede crawling up my hand, I literally screamed so loud the neighbours next door heard me and I was just so lucky it didn't bite me 😭 (this was when I was 7 and yes this was an Aussie moment)

We had those in (central) India too. As kids, we had clear instructions to "squish on sight" (never without slipper/ shoes) from our parents. They were not supposed to let live because "they try to use your ear as a burrow when you sleep".

One night in Japan, my family and I used to live in a house deep in the woods within a small community, My brother and I slept up stairs on the floor and I woke up to my younger brother screaming. When I looked over, there was a giant centipede on his face wiggling around, it ended up biting my brothers lip and it was swollen 3 times the side of his normal lips for a week. To this day we haven't found the centipede yet.

We have a specific type of centipedes in my country and their bites aren't exactly lethal, just ice your leg and you'll be fine in 2 days. :D It's like a giant mosquito bite. It is recommended to go to the hospital after a bite for safe keeping, but if you don't like the doctor, there are some home fixes you can do. Of course his may be deadly though, everything in Australia is deadly 😭😭

Australian centipede can cause minor effects with moderate to severe pain, associated with local swelling and erythema. It will not land to the hospital unless you have some kind of an allergic reaction. I was bitten multiple times when I was a kid while sleeping and woke up with just swollen skin

They are usually pretty scared of humans and their bites usually just give you a couple days of a lot of pain, they only really get you in the hospital if you are allergic to part of their venom. Also adding to the them being scared, they won't attack you on their own, you have to provoke them quite a bit, before they consider biting you.

Imo centipedes are among the most fun arthropods to keep. They chill, they lounge, and when they do actually eat, it's awesome. Low maintenance; great conversation starter. Easy 9/10

Many years ago I was taking washing off the line including a sheet that was almost touching the ground. Draped it over my shoulder. A big arse 30cm central desert mfkr one of these slithered out onto my neck, into my t-shirt and down my back. Somehow I got screaming naked without getting bit but this ruined me inside forever.
