I think what happened with Bumbino and at the end of this video is that the boss hit you which pushed you into the wall and when you took damage from the wall it pushed you back towards the boss creating an infinite loop of damage.

You can cheese the gauntlet by Passing the basement floor, unlocking the path to caves, going to the caves shop and then saving and leaving the game. When you open it back and press continue the game will no logner register the premade map for the challenge and instead you will just have a regular, a little bugged isaac run with the goal being mom's foot. You will either get the trophy after the first boss, or get none and will get softlocked.
