Okay, here’s the thing. I just did some testing in Sandbox, and it’s *SPECIFICALLY* Arctic Knight and Popseidon. Tridal Chill? Pops Whites just fine, and even freezes the insides. Riptide Champion? Again, pops Whites just fine, although you can’t damage Purples anymore. With Arctic Knight, you randomly can’t pop Whites and Zebras in exchange for only *NOW* being able to pop Lead. I don’t get it. I just don’t get it.

Honestly idk I'm just sad the change made him 10x worse until MIB. You can't use his pierce like at all until then. You pop a moab and it instantly deletes the entire ability pretty much without it.

The big issue here is that before now, the only blast/frost attacks were all AoE attacks. So even though black bloons were immune to bombs and whites were immune to being frozen, they wouldn't completely block your tower from hitting any other bloons in the area. But with mermonkey, a single white bloon can negate the projectiles and block them from hitting anything else. It makes this weakness hurt the tower way more than it hurts any ice tower, and it's even worse given that 2 out 3 tier 5 ice towers can hit whites anyway. I feel like if it is going to keep the weakness, it should be a thing where like these AoE attacks, the bloon just ignores the damage without blocking the attack from hitting other bloons. It makes sense anyway, a tidal wave should just flow past these bloons rather than being completely stopped by them somehow.

Yea, feels weird to say the least. Kinda makes sense for purple bloons, in the sense that maybe they are able to somehow ward off energy attacks, but a white bloon is only evocative of a cold resistant bloon, not a cold warding bloon.

The thing with white and black bloons is that they're ordinarily only resistant to splash attacks. Bombs still blow up on black bloons. Ice towers can still freeze with whites in range. Maybe if the tridents immediately did the wave split on hitting a white bloon?

I just think Zebra/White/Black bloons are too common to justify destroying projectiles. It feels like more of a bloon issue than a tower issue, imagine if Ceramic bloons (comparing them based on rarity not weakness) just deleted sharp projectiles w/o an MIB, that would be insane, so I think genuinely just make Zebra/Black/White bloons take no damage from these sources instead of deleting the whole projectile.

When it comes to white/black immunities, they should have the tower not actually damage the bloom, but keep going to pop others behind it. Most towers that have immunities against white/black blooms have area/group damage, ice and bomb tower for example. This should be the standard for these two, that are seen in every bloon.

As a Mermonkey fan, it's my favorite tower, I personally think the midpath is the worst path in the entire game by a lot. You already saw how a 220 boat out damaged a 042 mermonkey, which is just sad. I'd say Popseidon is like Flying Fortress. Except Neva Miss is the tier 4 upgrade and tier 3 is just a dummy upgrade

How I would sort out the tiers: S Tier: Some number of these towers should be involved in all runs. Attempting to clear a game without one of these should be viewed as a challenge. Example: Stronger Stims, Relentless Glue A Tier: Solid core towers. Good chance that your run involves multiple towers from this category. Showcase runs for weaker towers should consider avoiding these towers. Examples: Bloon Sabotage, Carpet of Spikes, Spectre B Tier: Auxiliary Towers. These are towers that shore up certain weaknesses and often offer good compliments to towers from higher tiers. They typically have weaknesses that keep them from being in more runs, or need enough support that a better tower could replace them. Examples: Moab Elim, Artillery Battery, Monkey Bucaneer, Blood Area Denial System C Tier: Niche Towers. These towers either fill extremely specific niches that barely stop a build from working. You are almost never happy to spend on one of these, and some other restriction like map space or budget will be strong arming you into making these options work. Examples: Spike Balls, Necromancer/Prince of Darkness, Icicle Impale D Tier: Outclassed Towers. These towers may be serviceable, but there is legitimately another tower that does what they do better. They have virtually no place in a chimps run except as a flex, or a demonstration one can win without overused strategies. Examples: Perma Charge (Outclassed by Glaive Lord), Bomb Blitz (Outclassed by virtually any AoE option), Archmage (Outclassed by Summon Phoenix, except on maps with poor vision) F tier: Non-functional Towers. These towers are entirely a joke, and much of their function simply does not work in Chimps Mode. Examples: Merchantman, Rubber to Gold (at least lead to gold can serve as a decent lead controlling option on an AMD), Monkeytown

To be fair, BTD never encouraged tower spam, they want you to upgrade towers. That’s why there’s so many tiers when so many other tower defense games usually just have one or two basic damage or pierce upgrades. BTD used to be like that for 1 and 2 and kinda 3 but they stopped. That’s also why a bunch of towers lags the game so much. More stuff on screen does not make it a more complicated game, and in terms of tower defenses, I feel like that’s especially the case

I feel like middle path mermonkey is one of the worst paths in the game. Can't hit lead purple or camo, doesn't have utility, okay at best ability, doesn't really do cleanup well, and it's tier 5 is extremely expensive for what it does. You can just buy an ultra jug and watch it do the exact same thing as popseidon for 1/4th the price and works 100% of the time without needing an ability, and hits all bloon types. In any map where you'd want to use popseidon, it is completely outclassed by ultra jug. And even in the cases where popseidons main attack does better, and ultra jug plus the literal tens of thousands saved will let you get many other tier 5 towers that will help the jug do even more than popseidon can.

IMO it's the worst path in the game, since it's the only path that's actually useless. It's bottom tier in chimps, it deals no boss damage, too expensive and too little pierce for races, too expensive and weak for CT, and Odysseys, why would you ever use it in a normal game mode. Every single upgrade is worthless. Tiers 1 and 2 are always the worst crosspath for top and bottom path, tier 3 gains the immunity for a whatever buff, tier 4 costs an arm and is worse than a 220 boat with secondary alch priority. Tier 5 is strong but it's so damn expensive. Everything else has something. Ujug is great for Dark Dungeon, bottom dart has a camo upgrade, 230 tack is great for races, rubber to gold is farming meta. Name any upgrade path and I'd happily explain why it's better than midpath Mermonkey

If I had to propose a solution, I suppose activating the Mermonkey's ability would temporarily negate some, if not all of the damage immunities. This makes the ability more tactical based on individual rounds. It may sound rather niche, but the same could be said for ALL towers. Ultra-Jugg is pretty bad on beginner maps, but is invaluable on harder maps with more obstacles, turning a disadvantage into an advantage because the upgrade is in the situation it fits best in. The fact the Mermonkey's ability can be targeted gives it even more flexibility than other towers.

finally, white bloons matter again I haven't edited it down yet but I did a black border with 4 Arctic Knights near Pat with Energizer and Final Harmonic so that I could spam pat-buffed ice jets and it did great, the energizer helped the projectiles not die to the random Bloons but the freezing helped late-moab-pop super ceramics not sneak by. Popseidon, however, probably is in a bit of a rough spot. Several T5 Ice Monkeys bypass White Immunity so I think Popseidon themself deserves Normal damage. 7:27 This is an upgrade in one of my tower concepts :) and also something I'd be interested to see in Battles 2 as a replacement for Regen Blocker since I think that upgrade is too strong, especially for its synergy with Glue Gunner.

I think that white bloons shouldn't delete the projectiles. Black bloons don't make bomb shooter completely useless, and white bloons don't make ice monkey completely useless. "Ruins" is a strong word to use when the middle path mermonkey was trash to begin with. The only really good one is bottom path and you may use top path for it's pierce buff and for creating water spots. Middle path was never worth the money compared to so much else you could get. It only ever shined with that bug keeping it's ability alive for way too long. So no, it wasn't ruined, because it wasn't good to begin with. But I have to agree that this change makes it unplayable basically. Why would it REMOVE the projectile? That's crazy. Either way, I never would've soent that money on popseidon when the money could be invested 100 times better. So literally nothing in my gameplay changes. Wether a tower is bad or unplayable only makes a difference for people who wanna firce certain towers because they like them. But for players who just try their best to beat mapsy this tower was never even an option anyways.
