I’m a radiologist: I can’t get this to work (yes I tried, I know). Even at 0.625mm slices with MiP imaging I can’t see the cards. The holo layer is all the way through the card, and you can’t actually see what they show. However, this is a great way to get your cards stolen. Also, GE 128 detector scanner 0.625 mm slices with maximum intensity projection recons. There are only 2 options: this works and is a pack switching service or 2) This doesn’t work and they send you the non diagnostic images for your personal frustration.

I was wondering how good it would actually work on a box? Most likely going to have more than 1 foil card in a row. The images they send are up to the customer to decipher. I'd imagine they would be unreadable. Maybe good for older single packs though

I can see this being a problem for collectors who are holding some $10k-$20k boxes. If it becomes a big problem I can see the Pokémon company adding a metal film to their sleeves, which would be awful since that would raise the costs :(
@mattao183 ай бұрын
Any counter measure adding cost was my first thought too. Best thing to hope for that I see is every card company talking to their legal teams and forming a joint lawsuit. This impacts too many people in every aspect of the hobby for there not to be some legal action to be had.... right? So I hope anyways.

I think all the TCG companies would have to do is add some sort of foil in between the cards that won't allow this. Maybe too late for vintage, but they can do this heading forward to ensure the market stays stable for modern sets.
@samersalama62753 ай бұрын
This is craziness. I have seen a lot of videos on this but the price breakdown. Most people can’t afford this so it’s safe to say most modern sets will not be scanned considering the cost here. This will definitely affect vintage.

@Squidmoto3 as far as you're aware. If nothing comes out then we just have to suck it up. But I can easily see them making a case of this service being classified as tampering. Companies have the right to protect their products. Imagine if everyone had a portable version of this tool or easy access, you'd see 3rd party sales cut by 90% (just throwing the number out for worst case scenario) since no one would buy the scrap packs. People would only ever buy direct from pokemon center. Your response is weird anyway. You assume there's no consequence without first letting this play out. Let this companies decide and we'll return to this discussion.

@Squidmoto33 ай бұрын
That's just not true. Most people use cards to pay, so that service fee is built into the cost of products to make up for it - making cash usually a strictly worse option. Them adding a 4% fee on top is just them being greedy or failing to appropriately price the goods.
