Also you can’t tell me you really think cwood is all that. Bro had trouble even getting a contract to begin with this offseason. Besides I’d rather have Dlive and his defense and omax off the bench than starting wood and have no young core.

I think you summed it up pretty well. The theme of this roster to me is “coin flip”. If most of these guys reach what their potential could be this season and the roster clicks, the upside is insane. But there are so many unknowns, that another disaster season is entirely possible

The team still has a lot to improve, specially in defense like everybody knows. However, the main takeaways is that the Mavs had a great offseason considering how things looked at the end of the last season. If the Mavs can keep last years offense they don't even need an amazing defense to get far. Specially if Luka steps up his defensive game, which I think he will after not being too burnt + Kyrie being able to keep up with his offense. Then yeah, perhaps Dallas are still missing a couple of pieces for a legitimate championship run, but if the team that they put together works it might be easier to go for these missing pieces with players that you can trade for something valuable.

Mavericks you want to win a lot ?? Watch every game of the Nuggets in the playoffs. They play as a team, if Luka tries to do too much it only makes for great highlight reels but no ring. Luka, watch your buddy Jokic lead his team, always looking for the open man first, then scoring if he needs to. If Luka becomes a true point guard like Jokic, now he has Kyrie to be his Jamal Murray, defenses are left helpless and even though their defense is not great, they score most every time they come down the court.

The problem of this team is Luka + Kyrie. They will step on each other toes. It’s inevitable. You build around those kind of players. There is one ball. Who will a play a role? Ky? Ky needs to be ky to be efficient. Not the type who will have the rock every 3min to make a catch and shoot. Hé wont be happy with it. Luka can’t play a role either so…it was a bad choice. Spencer was a great lieutenant who knew his role and played it perfectly

But i think KI&LD will figure out how to work together and not be so selfish w/respect to each others game. My 2 concerns are Luka's defense and how KIdd will utilize the Mavericks newfound talent.

Yep. Luka needs to realize how darn effective he can be from there and give up the ball in his hands a bit. He likes to play the point/small forward, but he has Kyrie now. They can still take turns at the point a bit, but he's gotta cede that to Kyrie. Not because Kyrie is better than, him, but the opposite. Precisely because Luka can be effective in the post more. It's not like hell be giving up ball handling duties to some mod tier guy either. It's Kyrie. And when Luka DOES play point, they need to set up plays that get Kyrie posted up on a guy his own size. Because Kyrie is actually a great post player too....if the defender isn't twice his size.

But why? Just your humble opinion from the outside? They had a top offense together and both had insane numbers playing together. This during the worst part of the season while both going in and out of the lineup due to injuries. Unless you’ve watched them play 20 games healthy with a decent squad you are just assuming. Your opinions come from regurgitating someone else’s headlines. They’ve surrounded these two with players that complement them. Last years they were surrounded with undrafted 2 way players.

@@leoreoibardo9294 I disagree that brogdon is better. He is extremely injury prone and not as good of a shooter. Personally I don’t like either THj or brogdon. Brogdon won 6th man of the year bc he’s on a big market team and the Celtics had enough depth that he came off the bench. The Celtics simply won a lot golf games meaning he got the award. 6th man is a fickle award that goes to the best teams best bench player. Many of them wouldn’t earn it on other teams. Smart and white were technically better than him and more of a fit which is why brogdon is gone and white/Jrue are there. It would be the same thing here. Also he’ll no, I’d rather have a Dinwiddie over brogdon for sure. I agree THj doesn’t have a handle and that we don’t have a true 3rd pg but brogdon is not the answer. Do you think Portland would just take THj in exchange anyways? There are way better packages out there from other teams. Unless your willing to dump Hardy or green or if no players than our last first for brogdon I think those are terrible trades for us. I’d rather drop green or hardy and our last first on a starter lvl player, either a wing or another center.

This take has no bearing on the moves they made. Added a raw but very solid rim protector in Lively, brought in a top-notch perimeter defender in Williams. These two guys could comprise 40% of our starting lineup. Not sure what you're seeing here.
