One of my favorite quotes from Erin, "for all you hover parents, you won't like this and I don't want to hear about it in the comments." You go girl! We have three boys, and my husband pulls them behind the 4 wheeler in the field when we get a good snow in West Central MN. For our older boys it has been one of their favorite memories and stories. For our 13 year old, he always asks to do it still. You are always so fun to watch, and remind us of ourselves in how you interact with each other and handle the challenges of a DIY home build. Every Sunday morning we watch your videos, and you always make us laugh. And from a fire wife of 19 years to a local volunteer FF and 1st Responder, who is also the Training Officer as some of the previous commenters have said, your donation of the Rental House for a live burn training is critical, especially for rural volunteer departments who may see a higher turn over rate, and need anything that is brought to them for the training of new members. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

I was in the fire department In a rural area. We would have house burns and a wonderful way a safety training. It’s a huge help in rural departments since it venally expensive to do controlled burns at fire academies, that’s if you can get time. Besides controlled burns such as your house are real life scenarios. I know it’s a total pain in the butt to prepared or a burn but it’s totally worth it. If you ask they may even let you hold the end of the pipe!
@dandaniels45583 жыл бұрын
Yes controlled burns are done a couple times a yr here where I live in NC my son is a captain at one dept and works part time at another dept and my son in law in associate chief at the same dept my son is captain and also works hos 24 hr job at another dept .so we get to see lots of controlled burns in my family and it's great training for them and of course all the rookies that really learn how it truly goes down in a house or structure fire. We as parents and grand parents see just how dangerous it is for them when there called out on structure fires for real .very scary. My son was at an old mobile home fire and had to go in with his partner and my son stepped past a wall and strait through the floor and caught his arm on a short wall and dislocated his shoulder joint and tore his rotator cuff and was off work for 8 months in 2020 .luckily therapy twice a week solved it with no surgery. Thankful for that and hes back at it at both depts now and doing great but I worry about him and my son in law all the time . Couldn't be prouder of both of them.

Chains for the truck are a must in WV. I grew up there in the 70’s the winters were a lot worse then, than in the past ten years or so. Not sure if you meant to say “truck”, instead of “tractor,” when talking about chains, but it could use them too. And a grader blade to remove snow from the driveway.

If you sprinkle wood ash in the tire tracks it helps a lot with traction, plus the black attracts the heat from the sun and it melts faster. On the downside if you get it too close to the house you can track black stuff in the house. Works great on hills tat get sun

Love that Ellie and Erin share the same birthday! Noticed in the birth pictures last video that Erin had a tube in her nose. Seems like it might not have been an easy birth? All the best with getting the house taken down one way or the other. Seems like it may be too close to the wires for fire. Fun to see the boys having a blast with the sleds and the snow tubes and the ride behind the vehicle. Ellie is fearless because her brothers are so brave!

Tip for getting better traction for your truck going up that hill. Drop the tire pressure. A lot. Like to 15 PSI. you'll have much more rubber on the ground and it was slide/spin out as much. Take your time and you'll get it up the hill. Just try to avoid the ice as much as possible. Once your back to the house, you the air compressor to fill up the tires back to normal.
