true, they are the best. I've been using them for a month now, and my kitchen has never been so organized.

Ageeed. I started saving them when we would get Indian and Thai food. Now I have an entire set of small, medium and large containers with lids that I use daily for sauces, leftovers and prep

I work in a kitchen just doing food prep and event serving, but we use these all the time! I love them!! I didn’t know about using them as measuring cups tho, that’s really cool and I’ll keep that in mind!

I live in germany, and the only way I've managed to get deli containers is from amazon, with like 1 month of shipping time. Absolutely worth the wait. Mise en place alone is so much more convenient now.

Thank Adam. I saw your vid on deli containers before. Unfortunately, the 1st time I froze seafood broth in one of them, the container cracked when I opened it. I'll chalk it up to that container being faulty & will try them again.

That happens sometimes, but not often in my experience. Remember, part of the reason that they're great is because they're expendable!

I love them as well but find I end up with tons of lids after a while. I’ll have to see if I can find a source that sells them without lids!

What is that green tape product you use for labeling?
@AdamWitt2 жыл бұрын
Just some painters tape.

A lot of restaurants use this or regular masking tape for labeling. Search for "Scotch green tape"

Umm. How about $0 for “deli containers” (just wash and reuse the takeout containers or cream cheese or yogurt (etc) containers). That’s what we do in our culture lol. Why pay for such a thing?
@mhermarckarakouzian88992 жыл бұрын
Growing up (and still to this day) my mom had 600 yogurt containers in our fridge, only one of which contained actual yogurt. So it was always a “find-the-yogurt” game hahaha
@MrEcted Жыл бұрын
Not everyone gets takeout and buys yogurt enough to have a full stock of these. Plus if you buy these as-is, then they are standardized so all sizes will fit all lids and all stack perfectly, plus they're cheap af. MUCH cheaper than ordering takeout enough to have stacks ready 🤣

@@MrEcted Wow ok, so you are also asking if an airtight plastic container is airtight. Interesting. They are. (I wonder how we could test this…maybe the chefs don’t know either 😂).
@MrEcted Жыл бұрын
@@RootinrPootine They're not air tight. It's easy to test, just put liquid in one, snap a lid on, and leave it upside down over night. You'll have a small pool of water. These things leak all the time, but they're still useful.

The act of putting prepped food or leftovers in a reusable plastic container to store in the fridge is such a concept of westerners. For the majority of us living in the east, that just always has been a way of doing things. Sweetshops and bakeries here give you stuff in deli containers that you later reuse for household usage. This just feels like an extension of the historical practice of the west borrowing common sense from the east and making it look extravagant and revolutionary.
@BlueGorillaInTheMist Жыл бұрын
In some ways we are genius and in other ways we are retarded. There are a lot of norms in the west which are upside down and ass backwards.
@RootinrPootine Жыл бұрын
No, sorry it’s not. Sir, everyone always does this in the west and has since the 1950s. What’s the video is about is saying that what people use--these plastic type containers at all common stores--they are Name brand “quality” (Tupperware is a good example)--but they are ripping you off. The stuff restaurants use is just as good but cheaper. That’s all the video is about. And even that isn’t really fair. Tupperware last longer so technically they probably are cheaper. It’s really not a big deal as a tip. East and west have borrowed from each other since before the concept of east and west even existed. Hope this helps.
@iamalexwolf8 сағат бұрын
A concept of westerners is a wild statement. People do this everywhere… In the West deli containers are popular in restaurant or other professional settings but the average family often uses other containers
